My dealings with my health care providers is an entirely different rant...

My rheumy ultrasounded my ankle that I injured when I stood up 8 weeks ago. In addition to the  fibula bone fragment that snapped off, I have two totally torn ligaments. No healing apparent. The ligament ends at the tears are flapping around when the ankle moves. I have been in this boot cast for eight weeks. I am ready to get rid of it.

Shall we bet on whether the ankle doctor lets mt get rid of it tomorrow? My rheumy was making noise about how he didn't think surgery would be good for me considering me disease. When I asked how long it would take for the ligaments to calcify together if I remained in the boot he was evasive and told me that was the ankle docs area. I take this to mean it could be quite a long time.

I am seriously upset that I was not given the proper treatment in the beginning....that's for another day. I shall let you all know what the doctor says tomorrow.

One problem with connective tissue disorders, esp. for me, is everything takes FOREVER to heal. I have Sjogrens and RA and even something as small as an infections or a simple cut takes a long time. I am on my 7th dose of antibiotics for some infections I have now. Did the Rheumy let you in on this little secret? Hang in there!!!! SerumNegative

Thanks,

Ides,
I hope they are able to find something to aid in the healing and that you will be able to not only be out of the boot but to do so comfortably.
