yally...I think I saw some geese yesterday...don't they make a yonking sound? I am serious about this...there is hope for Buffalo.

Had to take a 50 mg of lyrica today and a 50 mg last night. Also found the zel-lupian stuff I need for my ibs can not be obtained through Canada today. I am very tired, but I did water my plants today.

Gee Whiz, I've been AWOL again.  I'm baaaaack.

Been working and sleeping and working....... and thinking way too much.  Actually, I'm doing very well.  Hubby and I are working things out and having a good time together.  We went to the lake this weekend and helped with some chores at my two brothers' cabins and spent the weekend.  We had a great time.  Beautiful weather, then it snowed today.  What the ....!

I tried to catch up on posts.  Hope everyone's doing well.

Catcha later, Boo

Hi all,

Yally, I want you to cook for me, sounds like you're making all my favorites...cept maybe the moroccan..can't say I've ever tried that.  I'mso glad you get to go back on your meds!!! Praying you feel better really, really soon.

Think our house is finally somewhat healthy...fingers crossed that there aren't any leftover little flu buggies hanging around.

Got to watch our son conduct his first ever band concert with his students last week.  It was so awesome to see him up there, he was loving every minute of it. Brought back so many memories of when I used to go and watch him and his brother. Doesn't seem possible that he should be old enough to be the one doing the teaching (or that I should be old enough to have a son teaching lol).  Of course, I am completely biased, but the kids sounded great, and I cried like a baby!

Was reading some of the back posts...wish I knew some Spanish!  Took a couple of years of French way, way back in high school, wish I remembered more of it, Raven..Loved it at the time.

Well, time to hit the hay, all five kids here tomorrow..hugs to you all,
Jody

Glad to hear some of you are starting to improve! YEAH!

I'm not sure, I think I'm going the other direction. BOO HISS! I'm SO tired these days and achy. I'm ready for my contract to end....yet.....we need the income so badly, things are falling apart on us left and right.

Yes, food prices have gone up cosiderably! We talk about that at work at least once a week.

camama ... all groceries here has gone up substantially but I hunt around for my fresh veggies on sale which are not too high.

I did walk alot yesterday which made me feel good about myself. I am so AFRAID OF GAINING WEIGHT...which would be bad for my osteoarthritis but is a side affect of the lyrica pain med which I am taking for my post shingles pain.

yally...did my cleaning after dark...things look better then.

where is the bear??????? where is erin with her pretty green posts???????

Hey Joan!

Meant to ask you a question if you don't mind....how long after your bout with the shingles did it take for the pain to surface?  or did it just never leave?  A friend of mine is going through a really bad, very painful bout of shingles right now...she is really having a rough one.  She's just starting to scab now, but is so afraid of the kind of pain that you'v experienced.  Just don't know what to tell her.

Thanks!

Jody

Yally, you are so sweet.
I am doing great. This is day fourteen with no swollen joints anywhere. The plaquenil is working! Now I just have to stay this way until March 31rst when I see my Rhuemy again so she will drop the whole methotextrate idea (I really don't want to do that.)
It has been 70 here for the last two days so I actually walked a mile both days-I haven't been able to walk two days in a row for several years.
I hope that you and everyone else gets as good a result from your meds.

Moanin Everyone,

Had a busy weekend with basketball and  started to feel sick on Saturday evening.  Went to the ER tonight and guess what.  I have pneumonia again!!!!  This is the second time since the beginning of the year. sad

Does anyone else find they are sicker with the RA meds.  I was hoping year 2 with this disease would get better, but I'm not off to a very good start.  The minute I feel better and start doing more with my family I get kicked down with something else.  confused

Any thoughts or ideas/suggestions?

Thanks

Raven

Yes, I find I got sicker a lot more. Lately, it hasn't been more often, just more severe and prolonged when I do get sick. sad

How long have you been on methotrexate? I found I had a lot of respiatory problems when I was on that stuff.

Hang in there Yalinda - spring's-a-comin! I'm sure of it!

Happy Wednesday!

Liked the pic, huh Yally? LOL..just couldn't help myself..heehee.  Seriously, know you are enjoying time with your girls, but inside-out pjs? Never heard of that when I lived in the north.

Raven...so so sorry you're sick..pneumonia is some bad stuff. Seemed I went from one sinus infection to the next for the past year.  Since I've been off the mtx, still had one, but have also had flu, colds, etc.  The meds are supposed to supress our immune systems, so maybe that does us in.  Or, does just having RA make us more prone to being sick beause our immune systems are already messed up? Seems we can't win either way..we need the meds..but the meds do all this other stuff to us, too. Gets pretty frustrating at times.

Hey CaMama, sorry you're feeling bad, too!  How much longer does your contract last?  How's the kids? Hope you can get some rest...
Sj, congrats on the meds working for you...on plaquenil, too, almost to the 6 month mark...it's helping, though not as much as I had hoped.  So glad it's making such a difference for you! What do you do for a living? been reading some of your other posts, and you seem to have a medical background perhaps?  You are so knowlegable!
How are you doing, Joan?  I'm with Yally and the plant thing...I can kill off the plastic stuff....love them all, but just no good with them..that's hubby's job.  He won't let me anywhere near his orchids!
Well, the day begins....3 little ones here now, two more on the way soon...going to be another busy day.  Hugs to all I may have missed...
Love,
Jody

Jody,
I am a board certified behavior analyst-I work with people with developmental disabilities such as Autism-helping them find and keep jobs in their communities. Mostly by telling staff what they should be doing-I am sure you are already an expert in that area since children are natural teachers of behavior management.
I was first diagnosed with probably RA when I was in my first semester in graduate school and had access to a medical library. Now I work with doctors nurses psychologists and psychiatrists all the time and keep a nurses drug reference on my desk at work. I am a little obsessed with autoimune diseases espescially since the flare I had in october.

Raven, I think it was  you who asked if we are sicker on the meds? I'm not sure if it is the meds but it could be or maybe like Jody said just the RA in general since this year I am just plain sicker than last year! So it could be the MTX or it could be the RA it is so hard to tell anymore sad One cold seems to turn into another one before I know it! Friday is Ebrel day if I can make it without getting sick.

Jody I'm glad you are on the mend and up and around with the kiddo's..are you back on your meds or taking a break? Sorry I can't remember? Anyway I'm happy to see you posting again :-)

Today it seems to be a frozen tundra here but there is some sunshine....I'm waiting for the 50 degree's on Friday.  However, I am not looking forward to Daylight Savings..I really like that extra hour of sleep and hate to see it go!

Camama...what kind of contract to you have? what type of work?

Happy Hump Day everyone

yally...sitting around with your pj's on inside out? That sounds very alluring, do you open some special buttons at times?????

the things with shingles is it is very individualistic.

It would probably be a good idea, babyplace, for your friend to get some sulfur creme to put on her scabs...but only if she is not allergic to sulfur drugs.

the general rule is the younger you are the less likely it is that you will the post shingles pain. there is one big exception...if you have it on your face that is extremely serious at any age because it can affect your eyesight.

don't know if your friend has access to a computer but there is a site called daily strength which has a number of shingles patients on it.

yes lyrica does help but this is something all new for me...plus i am allergic or super-sensitive to medicine.

of course i am no expert in any of this stuff...my profession was a typesetter in New York City...so long for now
