scool  Happy Saturday everyone!

Well, I took my second dose of MTX last night.. will see how I do.. last weekend, I got a migraine on Sunday, but not sure if that was the MTX or allergies or what.. so I am interested in how tomorrow will work out.. confused

Weather is kinda screwy here.. was hot and sunny this morning.. now is cloudy, windy and cooler.. we've got weather coming in, so I'm in for the day/night.. I can already feel it.. yuck.. sad

Things are going ok here.. I have an appt on Tuesday to meet with my Primary and find out what is going to happen with my Medical Board stuff.. am curious as to what she's going to say.. oh well.. what will be, will be.. redface

How is everyone else?  So good to see you guys on here.. I read the posts daily and you guys crack me up.. Quite the family we have.. I need to read the other threads and then I'm off to take a bath and soak this old, but not so old bones.. talk to you guys soon.. :-)

Hi Ducky,

It's nice to see a post from you and glad to hear you are doing well.

Not much to report here..I  had a cold during the week so decided to wait on the Enbrel that I normally take on Friday evening but by tonight I hurt so much that I HAD to take the Enbrel. I'm curious if this has happened to anyone else that has had to postpone a dose? Did  you find that you hurt something terrible the day after your dose is due?? Even my horrid hip pain was back.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Ok, I gotta run and check the other posts and start getting stuff together for the party.. see you all this afternoon!  Much love!

Hi everyone,

this must be the weekend for parties!   We ended up with one at our house last night too, VERY unexpectedly, but fun.  You see, Friday was hubby's birthday.  We went our to dinner(just the two of us), came home had a small cake with one of the boys.  I thought that was it....but apparently hubby didn't.  All day yesterday he was looking for clues that I was planning some kind of surprise for him(which I wasnt'), and about 3:00 in the afternoon, he came in with a snit-eating grin on his face and asked when everyone was coming over, because he had figured it all out, and knew I was up to something (which I really wasn't).  he was so proud of himself, and looked so happy....I had no other choice but to throw together a "surprise" party in all of 3 1/2 hours!  Put out the SOS call to family and friends, ordered pizza and wings, got a cake, FAST, and thankfully, had about 20 family and friends show up to "surprise" him. No matter how many people tried to tell him that this really wasn't planned, he just KNEW that I had this in the works for weeks!  Bless his heart, don't think I will ever tell him the real story, but the rest of us will remember this forever.  Hubby was so happy and thrilled, it was worth every bit of it.  His birthday, but I was the one who got the surprise I guess.  Whew.

Oh cheesecake, Yally.....yum, that's one of my favorites...but the "fools" thing??? I am offended, I resemble that remark lol!!  The boys all love those video games, never tried them myself.  They really LOVE Guitar Hero, and they also all get together online and play 360.  Pretty cool since they are scattered around the country but can still play a game together and chat.   Have fun at the party Ducky....we went to a party at one of those bounce places a few months ago, the kids all had a blast....even all the big folks got involved. Seems like forever since our kids were 9..I miss those days!!

Got enbrel shot #2 in Friday night...high hopes so far.. really think it's helping.  No stinging or burning yet....I think I probably have so much fat in my tummy, just can't feel it lol.

Time to go, a friend and I are going to help my mom finish cleaning our her place so she can get the realtor over....praying it wil sell quickly, which these days will defintely take ALOT of prayer.

Hugs to you all...hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday.

Love,  Jody

Jody...That is so sweet for your husband!  Bless his heart..waiting for the party to begin..Yikes! Good thing you were able to round up friends and family :-)

Yally..Hopefully the MTX won't give you too much trouble now that you are on it..Thats strange that the Enbrel doesn't really last the week but maybe the longer we take it? who knows with these meds? However, I would gladly take your pred!!! By the way I love cheesecake.Yummy!

I woke up this morning and could hardly move...It feels like someone has been punching me in the shoulders and ribs, and I can't really lift my arms over my head.  Just when  you think you have had all of the symptoms..you get a new pain in a new place eyes now the hands are hurting from typing. I guess I waited too long to take the Enbrel and when you are supposed to take it at the same time each week thats what it means.  Sheesh!

Ducky..that does sound like fun..sometimes we just have to be fools tongue I hope your son has a wonderful birthday.

Ducky-as to jumpimg on all the stuff we all do it-the very first week that the pred made it possible to walk without limping I decided to go bowling with my three year old nephew and his teen age brother. I hurt for a week afterward. I think we have an overwhelming urge to forget we are sick for a little while.

Yally-can't imagine forgeting my pred-I'm more likely to forget I already took it.

Jody-nothing like a party that surprizes the host!

Everyone enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Extra Pred-with a side of Meth:

Well some of you have been following my arguement with myself-Rational brain defeated irrational brain.

I went to my Rhuemys office today and told her all about my 3 extra pred on wedensday as well as how well I had been doing prior to that day.

I suggested cutting the pred and asked her what she would suggest I do on really bad days.  Her reply was
"You can double up on the prednisone if you need to but it comes with a side of Methotextrate."

So, I restart my pred taper tommorrow.  If I do well then I stay just on plaq and Sulindac.  If I fail the taper then I get stuck with Methotextrate.

I also asked her about taking tylenol while on plaq because the patient information sheet says to avoid it-she said I read too much and you should not believe everything you read.

I hope everyone else has had a good day.

Sj,

Sounds like you have a really good rheumy..I have never heard anything about tylenol and plaq? gosh I hope not since I take tylenol on a daily basis (tylenol pm along with my lunesta).  I hope your pain starts to subside and its good that you can be honest with your doc.

For me, I guess I can return  to my rheumy and ask what to do when you are on plaq, MTX, and Enbrel and still hurt? What do you take then? sad In my mind I should be pain free..

Ok,I'll see your enbrel and plaquenil and raise you two Celebrex lol!  Seriously..not trying to make a joke of the pain we're all in (well, maybe a little joke, doesn't hurt to laugh, right Yally??)...but really isn't it amazing how many different combos of meds are out there and how differently they work on each of us?  Feels like sometimes it's just a roll of the dice until they find the right one.   Mom, when do you see your doc again?  I don't know what they told you about enbrel, but mine said that  it could work in as little as two weeks, but can take as long as three months...I know it's discouraging, but try and hang in there!  Maybe for you it will be more of a gradual improvement???  You've had a tough time of it with the pain on top of school, the kids, and all the driving you do....don't know how you do it, really.   Even though I do see improvement over where I was two weeks ago, I certainly am not pain-free. Wonder if we really can expect to be?  Sj, never heard that about the tylenol with plaq either....I take the arthritis-strength type here and there when I need to, cuz it lasts 8 hours. My rheumy told me that was ok along with the plaq and Celebrex.  Interesting...... Joan..good luck with the tens unit, dear, I have heard that those can be very helpful.... you've been in pain for such a long time, I really hope this works for you!!

The lady that does my hair went to my rheumy today..she was diagnosed with psoratic(sp?) arthritis...poor thing(gosh, are we contagious??), her hands and shoulders are so swollen...I have no idea how she keeps working! Looks like mtx is in the mix for her, and she's kind of scared, too..but  hopeful that she'll feel better.  Going to tell her about all of you guys here, maybe she'll check out the forum, too.

Well, hugs to you all...hope you all have had a good Monday!

Moanin Everyone,

Everyone seems to have been busy posting this weekend.  Yally, to be honest with you, the snow is not pretty anymore!!!!!  If I see anymore fall I'm going to lose it.  I haven't seen this much snow since I was a kid in the like late 60's early 70's.

Was gone to the Toronto area this weekend, daughter had a basketball tournament.  It's a six hour drive each way so it was a longggggggggggg weekend.  I gotta tell ya, the kids in our area are so much smaller !  Our girls are 12 and 13 year olds and out tallest is about 5'6"  (1 player and the rest are under 5'3")and some of the teams we played against this was the height of their shortest.  We need to put our kids on stretching machines over the summer.

Gonna go and catch up on the posts.  Having my first Cortisone Injection in the spine tomorrow.  Babyplace, I will e-mail you after that appointment.  Hope it works!!! Say a prayer for me everyone.

Thanks

Raven

Jody..

I know I also heard up to three months, I guess its hard not to get impatient! I wonder if we will ever be pain free but then that would be a remission? One thing on the Enbrel is a constant stuffy/runny nosy and sneezing...yuck, almost like a cold but it never really gets much worse? Just enough to feel a bit crummy I suppose.

Your poor hair lady sad I know she is scared by the MTX, it is scary! I know I was terrified of it but now seem to take it without thinking about it for the most part. The fear of Enbrel has replaced my fear of the MTX.

Wow Raven your girls are tall already, no need for stretching! If your oldest is 5"6 at 13?? That is actually quite tall. She is taller than my 14 year old son. I would say they have plenty of time to grow! They are giants compared to my kiddo's (and they are boys) my 11 year old is barely my height (I'm 5'0).

Have a great day everyone!

It's hump day again!

Going to be a rough one, I just know it...you won't believe how this day started!  Went out to put some mail in the box before the kids started to arrive...and I got hit right in the middle of my chest with the biggest blop of bird doo-doo ever!  It was so big and hard it actually hurt~!  What are the odds of that???  I am used to having to change my shirts due to baby messes...but this is for the birds heehee....I guess I'm just hoping it was the "bluebird of happiness" lol.

Will let you know how the rest of the day goes.

Hugs....Jody

Hi Jody,

I'm sorry you are having such a morning, when something like that happens you can only wonder what else is in store! I had one of those days yesterday...I was at the drive thru with my sons and ended up spilling a drink on myself, and had to rush home but didn't have time to change my jeans before driving back to town for a parent night at my daughters school. Although, I think you have me beat with the poop! I hope your day improves!!!

At least it is Hump Day tongue

Okay, I need advice. Most of you know that I have been taking plaquenil and losing weight from it. Well now that I am down to 2.5mgs of prednisone I am finding I cant eat enough.
I realized that I had only had 400 calories yesterday on my way home from work so I stopped at KFC to bring home dinner. (not because I neccessarilly wanted it just because it was the most calorie dense food I could think of) I ate as much as I could and then looked up their nutrition information on line and I had eaten 600 calories. That made a total of 1000 for the day (I have been losing weight on 1600 which is what my diet says I am supposed to be eating).
Even when I do get slightly hungry I find I would rather not eat-I take two or three bites and want to push my meal aside and go back to what I was doing.
I love the plaquenil-it is definetly helping my joints and morning stiffness fatique etc-I don't want to give it up. I do have weight to lose but this does not seem healthy to me. I just had a complete metabolic profile done and it was fine so its not that its just the drug.

Help!

Good moanin your honour good moanin your honour - everybody#s going to go to jail this moanin!!!
Yally if I can stay awake until this time of the moanin I don' need no dragon as my fingers work real well - don't ask me why as I simply do not know but in 8 hours time it will be a joke watching me try and type. To everybody who has emailed me my apologies for not responding sooner.
How is everybody? I've simply not had the time to read all of the threads and topics [not that I ever did, only this one really] Hhas anybody heard from erin lateely? If so how is she? Ducky you heard any more about your pending medical board or whatever it is that they are going to give you before you know one way or the other if the army still require your services.

The new cave is starting to look as if people live in it and there is now only one room occupied by packing cases which contain my vinyl, cassettes and cd's. I have to have some shelves built in along one wall so we can get all of them in place. Once that is done then we take Manhatten and Berlin - well the shed actually which is an old garage and it is hoped that during the summer I can board the inside and insulate it so I will have a bolt hole next winter - it's dry and has power so................... maybe I could then put a cable into the freakin goldfish pond we have inherited from the previous owners and there are over thirty coya carp with some big buggers among them. I'm supposed to be minding them until the owner can build a pond in his new pad but if they are still there come autumn I am going to sell them. I reckon they are worth over $60000 as some are huge and worth $2-6000 each.

Raven is it still snowiing up there in the icy wastes of Canada Raven? Wehad 17 celcius today and we have been told to expect wintery showera tomorrow and Sunday. I've always said the UK doesn't have a climate - just weather.

The sacrifices we man must make eh?

I shall emal people tomorrow night when my fingers are working properly and try and bring a smile to your faces. Until then.
stay well

Moanin everyone,

Believe it or not we had snow today.  Not a lot but come on, its April.

Bear, don't get rid of the satellite package yet, the playoffs are about to begin.  They don't end until some time in June.

I started getting cortisone injections in the lumbar spine on Tuesday.  Went well but will need a few more injections to get some relief.  Even then I only have about a 50% chance that it will do anything.  Not sure why but since the injection, I've been peeing alot.  My blood sugars have been fairly good, only a little spike and I've had a bit more energy.  Not sure if it's a coincidence but I'm not complaining.

Stay well everyone and have a good weekend,

Raven

raven, isn't that funny ... i was up all night the first night with my tens unit ... peeing. don't know but maybe it was a cheap thrill or something.

i have gained four pounds and that is no good so i decided to go back on a strict diet. yesterday, i took my friend out to lunch and we ate and ate but now i am trying to eat only fruit, veggies and liquids.

anyway the tens unit seems to be working. it is different. today i swam and did not put in on upon 12:30 pm or so and the pain was starting up but now the pain is good. i am very happy about this and i hope it is true and continues

best of luck to everybody!

Okay who's hoarding the Meth. I can't take it anymore-I went down to 2.5mgs of pred and both of my shoulders swelled up and I could not sleep last night because no matter what position I was in they hurt.
So, I caved in and took 20mgs of pred this morning and will start tapering back to 5 when I don't hurt so much.
My Rhuemy told me the extra pred comes with a side of Methotextrate. The Rational side of my brain is now demanding to know "Where's the Meth"..
The illogical side of my brain just wants another Pred presciption and is hiding in the closet hoping not to ever find the methotextrate.

I hope everyone has been too busy enjoying wonderful weather and good health to post.
