I have these two devils in my spine. I know that walking is good. We all need exercise, boys & girls. :/
My problem is that the arthitis and scoliosis both hurt more after a half hour walk. Don't suggest swimming. I have fear of the water.

HI pamela, I agree with Ducky....Yoga and pilates is a good way to make u stronger, and increase your flexibility....I personally like Yoga myself...start off slowly and even though it looks weird doing the poses, and movements, trust me it does help and since swimming is an issue, yoga and pilattes is the next best thing...

Also, try investing some time with a podiatrist, because they can tell you what kind of sneakers, and shoes you could wear that will decrease the amount of pressure and pain that you are feeling, sometimes wearing the right kind of shoes will make a difference in the comfort level....

I learned that one from one of the doctors at the pain management clinic i used to go to...he would always stress to me the importance of good shoes, and one day I started wearing better shoes, and it doesnt take all my pain, but i do feel the difference especially when I revert back to the usually pair of shoes I wear....

Good luck, and feel better...

I think I have both Yoga and Pilates on my ON DEMAND on T.V. I'll have to find a time when I'm not sleepy. I've been sleeping soooo much lately. I must be getting weaker daily. I take my Methadone prescription and off I go to dreamland. Maybe that's what it is for me. I've been trying so hard for 6 years. I'm worn out.
Still, another part of me wants to stay around and walk and visit sometimes. When Arthritis, Etc. struck me, it was hard and fast. One week I was exercising two hours a day - the next I often had to ask for a glass of water. Mine started out with tremendous stress, Fibromyalgia, and Myofasicial Pain.
Thanks for the tips ... We'll see.
