Did anyone here get their arthritis from prednisone?  I was on prednsione for 1 1/2 years due to ulcerative colitis.  I ended up having my colon removed so I got off prednsione 4 mths ago but I have bad joint pain.  I sometimes think that it is not as bad as it use to be but then I think that I am probably just getting use to the pain.  I just have my hopes that it will go away.  I have not seen a doctor but just waiting it out to see if it gets better

You need to see a doctor. You need to know what type of arthritis you have and get preventitive treatment if it is inflamitory or degenerative. Denial is a good way to end up with joint replacement surgeries or lifelong pain.

Chili, until you know for sure what it is you can't predict wether it will go away and if you hope it will go away and wait and are wrong then more damage is done...
If you go get it checked out then at least you know and if it is something that can cause damage you get the best and fastest possible treatment.

I would think the joint pain would only be while your coming down off the prednisone. I never had joint pain
after I got off of it. But thats just me and I'm not a doctor. I would definitely let your doctor know.

And nice to see another Clevelander on here!! :-)

You may have been having arthritis pain the whole time you were on the Pred, as that is a temp fix.. and since you went off of it, you are now feeling the effects.. In short, no, I don't think it will go away.. Have you talked to your doc about any of this? Take good care and let us know how you are doing...
