Been on mtx for a year, humira 3 months and felt 10 years younger. Could run upstairs, kick a ball with the kids, simply brilliant but... caught the flu, developed pneumonia ended up in hospital 6 days on IV anti biotics, sent home on oral. 4 days after finishing the oral anti biotics severe chest pain sent me back for an x-ray- still have pneumonia!!! I'm weak as anything, 3 weeks now battling pneumonia, I feel as soon as we find something that works for the RA, my body can't cope with the drugs! Feeling down.

I know exactly how you feel. Hang in there. Try not to let yourself get too down. Pneumonia is very difficult to get over, you are immuno-suppressed which makes it worse, and you had a nasty case of it. It happens and doesn't mean your body can't cope. Drink plenty of H2O, focus on kicking the pneumonia for now...if they had you stop the RA meds, see if there something else you can take in the meantime to help out as much as possible, and when you get better and back on your regular meds talk to your doc and make sure you're doing all you can with staying healthy, there are vitamins you should be taking while on them (folic acid/b vitamins), drinking extra water on a daily basis, etc.

I know how tough it is when you're sick like this. Take care and I wish you good health very soon.

Thanks for your kind words. I'm feeling much more positive today, I'm sure it's just a glitch and I will be on top again!

I"m so glad to hear you are doing better today! I hope it continues.

I do understand the rollercoaster being sick does to you (I'm going through it myself right now)...so, feel free to come vent any time...the people here are WONDERFUL. Just having a sympathetic ear can help so much!
