hi,
i've has AS for a year and a half. my new rhuem/ mircle worker has me on celebrex and methtrexate. the combination has relieved 80%+ of my symtoms. still have some neck stifness/ pain and finger stifness. The side afects from enbrel scare the living day lights out of me. has anyone been close to where i'm at with any advice they could share? i'm pretty happy with were i'm at now but i'm worried that i could still get bone fusing when i'm older if i don't do more now. i don't want to end up bent out of shape when i'm older but i hate needles. i'm stuck and need a help to further my decision making process.
Thank you.

I started humira about 5 months ago and was also a bit worried about injecting it, but they come in a prepackaged ready to go pack, very easy to use, no visible needle to deal with. Its a pen with a spring loaded injection once you line up your pen just push the button and it injects for you. No depressing of needles or filling up from bottles etc... I'm sure enbrel will be the same. As for the effects I can't believe the difference. So much better than I was on just mtx plus sulphasolasine and arava. Now I'm just on mtx 10 mg and humira. I feel my quality of life is so much better its worth running the risks of side effects. Just have to be vigilent for infections, go and get antibiotics straight away if you're sick. Hope it works out for you.

Golitho,
Thank you for your experience. the needle thing really helps. i'm concerned about the infection thing because i have a koi pond with a turle and frogs, and a toddler at home. the koi pond with all the animals is a breading ground for samonalla and other bacteria. any my kid is wonderful and a love him to death but kids bring stuff home too. i guess i feel like i'm more in harms way when it come to catching things.
Thank you

Yeah, I also have 3 kids who constantly bring home infections. This last winter (I'm in Australia) there seemed to be always one of them with a cold or flu or something!!! But I've learned, the hard way, that if I run a temperature I go to the Dr. no trying to fight it on my own. Just be sensible and you will be fine. I don't seem to be more suseptable but if I get sick I go down hill fast. Let us know how you go with the enbrel.
