I cannot seem to get a straight answer out of my doctors, so I thought I would try to find out if anyone has had this sort of problem here. Last week I had an MRI to look for spondylosis. After getting the results back from that test my Rheumatologist called me into his office the same day. By the time I was done talking to him, the least of my concerns was the spondylosis. He informed me that I had several retroperitoneal lymph nodes and told me I needed to schedule a CT scan immediately for lymphoproliferative disorder. He also told me I need to go back to my hemocologist/oncologist for further blood work. He continued to ask me questions like "have you lost weight lately?", "have you had a mammogram?" and "does cancer run in your family?". Basically, he scared me to death with his questions and left me with the feeling that he was trying to tell me I have some type of cancer.
I have contacted the hemocologist and his next available appt is not until 1/5/09. I will be insane before this date, worrying about this. I did call my Rheumatologist and demand he write the prescription for the CT scan so that I do not have to wait. My CT is scheduled for today at 4:00.
Of course after hearing these results, I immediately started researching the internet to find the answers I need to calm myself. One article I read was explaining that Methotrexate can cause enlarged lymph nodes. One other article was about Methotrexate and Epstein Barr Virus, which I guess can cause some enlarge lymph nodes, as well. So I wanted to ask if anyone here has had any of this come up while taking it. I have been taking 9x (22.5mg) per week for probably over a year now.
I would greatly appreciate any feedback anyone can offer. I will also keep you updated on the results of the CT and additional blood work ups.
Thank you so much for your time.
