I've been told by my rheumy I have Arthritis, sas told it was a peripheral Arthritis to the crohns, I've been told also by the rheumy I have lupus type symtoms, could be it part of that?
My Gastro says its not Arthritis, he seemed to dismiss it, even though last year he agreed it was arthritis???

I just want to know what it is so I can get it sorted if at all possible.
Is there a name for this type of Arthritis and is it arthritis?

I have general aches, usually in wrists and hands. (and shoulders, sometimes back and legs)
I don't get swelling in the joints and there is no damage visible with x-rays.
It gets worse after I do work. i.e. if I drive it'll be worse the next day and will get progressively worse if I keep driving every day.
If I use the PC a lot my hands, fingers and wrists get painful.
I'm off work for the last while as I was taking pain pills to get into work, during work and then to get home.

Last January it flared up and I couldn't walk up the stairs or open any containers. It hasn't been that bad since, thankfully.

If any one can offer their opinions it would be really great

Thanks in advance,
m

magnetic, I also have been told I have Crohn's related arthritis...no one has used the word peripheral with me, but that's what term I found online.  I don't understand, though, because my Crohn's is technically in remission but the arthritis is killing me.  I have joints that swell and hurt and, last week, spent the week laying still because any movement of my hands, arms or legs caused so much pain I was in tears (that's with pains meds, steroids, Humira, Voltaren - which normally helps, etc.).  I can't seem to find out why the arthritis is flaring so bad if the Crohn's isn't.  Now we are trying Sulfasalazine, but that can take months to work.  I can't stomach a lot of the arthritis meds (or they don't help), so my options are limited.  I don't have any more info on this than you do, just wanted to tell you that my joints have been getting worse over the last couple of years (and I'm 28) and I'm really getting scared that it's going to continue.  Hope someone else here has more info on it.

I am in the same boat. My crohns is doing really well with remicade but I have severe joint pain everyday and it is worse after activity. I am on hydroxychloroquine or plaquenal 400 mgs a day, it isn't helping yet but rhumey said 2-6 months for it to work. Sorry you are having the same problems with crohns it seems like if one thing gets fixed another breaks :(

I got an appoint with my rheumy and was told I either have enteropathic Arthritis, arthralgic, or Lupus secondary to Anti TNF.

I don't really know wher I'm going from here

This is the response I made to you on another thread -
Magnetic - I'm glad your are seeing a rheumy. Rheumys are the best specialists to sort out the arthritis related problems. I reacted to Remicade at about 2.5 yrs, went to Humira, had a severe reation after 2.5 months. I developed lupus in addition to the spondyloarthropathy that I already had. The way I could tell that the joint pain was different was because my joints swelled and became very inflamed.

If you have lupus, they usually start with Plaquenil to help relieve the symptoms. If you aren't on something like Imuran or methotrexate, they will likely give you that if you have enteropathic arthritis.

There's no talk of putting me on any Lupus treatments and I'm already on Methotrexate for the crohns
