Hi I am new to the arthritis board. I normally post on Lupus because I was diagnosed with Sjogren's and poss MCTD in 2006.

My question is should I ask my Rheumo about me possibly having rheumatoid arthritis. The reason I ask I have been diagnosed with degen disc disease throughout my cervical spine, Lumbar and sacral. I am about to have a disc replacement at  L5-S1. I have a 10mm bulge and severe degeneration in the bone above that disc. Also recently diagnosed with arthritis of the sternum.
Other symptoms I have are as follows:
Low grade fever almost everyday
fatigue
weakness
achy joints and muscles
Morning stiffness for about an hour or more
stiffness after sitting for awhile
Soft tissue swelling in feet, ankles, hands, and wrist.

The symptoms I don't have are the symetrical joint pain and swelling. My joints ache but don't seem to swell or turn red.

If not RA what else should I look into or research.
Thanks
Kasey

Kncb95, I am fairly new to this site as well, and am far from knowing everything. But I can tell you that MY Rhuemy told me that RA is specific to the symetrical (or however you spell it) symptoms.  That the symetrical symptoms are a big clue as to having RA.
You could go see a rhuemy and see what they say? They will take a test looking for the RA Factor in your blood.  But I would maybe look into Fibromayalgia too....from reading different posts in here it sounds like could be that you have that....
But like I said I am no expert. Just a girl trying to learn about stuff in here just like you.
I would go see a rhuemy though, might be one of RA, or Fibro, but could be another ?
Hope you feel better soon. Take care.
