I'm hoping someone out there can share some advice or experiences with me.  I had wrist joint replacement surgery July 24th.  I've been fighting pain and wrist deteriotation for over a year.  My wrist was basically being "eaten" away by the arthritis.  We had tried everything - shots, meds, etc.  I also get remicade infusions ever 5 weeks.  So, I had my wrist replaced.  I was in a half cast for two weeks and a full cast for 6 weeks. At least, the cast was a pretty hot pink!  Anyway, I got my cast off a week ago and the doctor put me in a splint.  I see her again in two more weeks.  She didn't send me to physical therapy yet because she said I needed more healing before I could start PT.  I've read all the info on the thumb replacements on the site but I haven't seen any posts on wrist replacement.  I'm still having quite a bit of pain and wondering if this is normal.  I'm doing a few exercises that the dr. prescribed...not many...but I'm still taking pain meds every 4 hours.  It's also really hard to bend my thumb but I knew that would happen because the thumb joint collapsed right before surgery.   I've gone back to work....no choice there.  I have to work.  The insurance is through my work.  I guess I'm just a litle scared.  I also went into an awful flare when my cast came off.  I guess just the shock of it all.  I hope I don't seem whiney (I don't like whiney) but it's just hard to think I had this surgery to take care of the pain and the pain is still here.  I would really appreciate any words of advice, support....  I've been living with RA so I know the disease is fickle...not a friend to any of us.  I guess I just needed to unload.  It's not my first go round with joint replacements...I've had both knees replaced but this seems different.

Hi Deejane,
I dont know anything about wrist replacements, just wanted to tell you how sorry I am that you are suffering so.
Can you ask your Dr. for stronger pain meds to get you through this?
Please keep us posted on how you are progressing and take it easy at work.
