Hi, I'm newly dx with RA this year. I was put on Arava for progression of the ailment. I was wondering about the immune system and when do you call the doctor about a sore throat.
I notice it about 2 or 3 days ago. Our weather here has been nothing but rain, and of course i was wet from it picking up my daughter. Anyway, now i am feeling lousy and my throat is starting to swell... no fever yet.
Has anyone experienced this and what did you do about it... I am not one to call the doc in a hurry if i don't have too..

Any and all input would be appreciated. Laura confused

I'd go now, after all prednisone masks fever. I ended up getting really sick without realising last year. You're better off to be safe. Any sickness always flares me, I'd go and get checked out, good luck golitho

I've been having problems with a sore throat that keeps coming and going, affecting my Remicaid infusions, and it's pissing me off. I want to get into remission and as long as I'm on antibiotics for the sore throats, I can't do the MTX or Remicaid. Mine started about 10 weeks ago and I've taken rounds of antibiotics, which has pushed up my infusion dates by a week or two each. The darned sore throat went away, then came back, I took more (different) antibiotics and had to skip my Remicaid infusion. Finally, last weekend I had the tiniest inkling of a sore throat and said 'to heck with it" and took the MTX. My sore throat the next day was much worse, but got better as the day progressed and I ate and drank things, especially salty things, and gargled with salt water. It's been bothering me on and off all week, but I'm going to take my MTX tonight, and see how I feel tomorrow. If it's sore, I'll gargle with salt water for the next few days and hope and pray that I can take my Remicaid. I'm scheduled for Remicaid infusion on the 4th, which I'll just have to wait and see. I really hope I don't have to re-schedule, because even though I've only had 3 infusions of Remicaid, I noticed a HUGE difference in how I felt after the 3rd one. I actually felt fairly normal and well for nearly a week after my 3rd infusion, and so now that I see the benefits, I really want to take it!

On the down side, because of these delays in my treatments, I'm not able to return to work at the date I gave them, and although they've been exceptionally patient with me (I had an original return to work date of July 24), they've finally had to let me go, so now I'm unemployed and still sick. I'm doing my best to handle it, but any prayers will be greatly appreciated.

Good luck to you.
