Was put on depot steroid injections, Methotrexate pills and Co Dydramol and Tramadol for the pain. Last visit to Rheumy still in alot of pain and my CRP had Only come down to 38.5 so am now on oral steroids aswell as the injections and last week started giving myself Methotrexate injections of which my second is tomorrow. I'm hoping to get some relief from this coz i'm kinda at the end of my tether. Look forward to chatting with u all

Welcome to Healingwell. There are many great people here to chat with and get advice from. I am fairly new to this site as well. I am also in mid thirties and mom of 2 and step mom of 2 teens ALL boys! I started with my symptoms in Feb 2008.  I have not taken any of the meds you have described. I dread if they ever want me to inject myself...I hate needles.   But there are many people here that are on meds like you are. People share thier stories and experiences....and sometimes just vent.
Have a great day.

Hi Abol76 welcome to HW and the RA forumsmilewinkgrin

I take MTX, but orally not injections. I also take pred but am weaning off that.

With the MTX, give it a few months to kick in for your RA, see about taking folic acid (it helps with the side effects) and I drink lots of fluids the day I take it as it can give me headaches and fluid seems to help with that.

Good luck and I hope the MTX kicks in quick and makes your pain more tolerable.

Thank you for replying Taylsa, it's so good not to feel so alone. I first got symptoms in 2006 even though I wasn't diagnosed till last Aug. I was on a high dose of steroids from June 2007 till nov 2008 due to serious illness so my symptoms got masked for some time. It was when I reduced somewhat that the symptoms become very apparant. In the bone protecting meds I take coz of the steroids there is vitam D. I didn't know Amitriptyline could be used for this. I'm on 200mg at night so I guess i'm covered eh? lol it must be hard having to cope with the every day life as a Mum and to have this awful disease. I find it bad enough after a day looking after my 4yr old niece and 5month old nephew but my niece is everso good she knows Her Auntie isn't quite able to do everything she'd like, God love her! Anyway, thanks again for replying I really appreciate it X

Hi Sydneyjo! So good to hear from others. I was on 15mg folic acid a week but was getting alot of mouth sores so now take 5mg everyday except my mtx day. When I was on pill form I was sick 7 days a week so then took half one day and half 4 days later and the sickness went over night. With the injection I just get slight nausea but still get the tiredness. I also drink alot of fluid because of the headache and find an isotonic drink before bed helps also. I'm too weaning off the pred now i'm on the injections. My Rheumy said to give it about 6wks before I know If they're effective or not. If not they will add in 2 biologic. Thanks for your reply. Go well X
