I have ulcerative colitis, I was doing a routine follow up which found I was anemic. When I went to the hematologist and they ran tests I found out I
am positive for one of these diseases. I just want to learn more. What is the prognosis for RA? has anyone had anemia? Is this a disabling disease?

Sorry they got you so upset Shellie- what are they basing this diagnosis on? Sounds like just an ANA test if they are not being specific.
Do you have any kind of symptoms?
Prognosis can vary greatly from RA patient to patient.
What my doctor told be initially was- most people we can get into a remission, some people go in and out of remission regularly but we keep them comfortable and some people just get worse and worse but they are the minority.
Hope everything works out OK for you.

Hi Shelley,

I wouldnt worry too much if I was you.

Do you display any of the symptoms of RA or Lupus?

Im not a big fan of believing my blood results, I can be in a major CD flare and my bloods say Im normal - huh? I got acute pancreatitis that my bloods didnt pick up till I went to ER - but thats just my opinion in regards to my body.

If you are concerned see a Rheumy and have the appropriate scans/xrays done.

Here's hoping your blood tests are wrongsmilewinkgrin
