Hey guys, I have a quick question. I was diagnosed last december with fibromyalgia....i've pretty much dissagreed with the diagnosis from the start for many reasons. Apparently I have a few "markers" that would indicate the possibility that i would eventually get RA or lupus. At this point, I am in so much pain in my joints and I have many other symptoms that I just want to be treated for something at this point. My last ANA done last week was negative, but my sed rate went from 8 in december to 20 last week, thats after 3 rounds of steroids for severe costocondritis. Also, my crp is borderline high now as well. ( i guess this isnt such a quick question--sorry :( ) Last week i woke up with a cracking neck, when i say cracking, i mean every time i turn my head, crepitus, all the time, and everyone around me is grossed out by it. It hurts some, localized, full out cracking. I had an x-ray done today, just waiting on results. So here is the question---does anyone have any info to offer?? im in a world of hurt looking for answers, there are no strong rhumatologist in the area so im trying to avoid traveling if possible.......
God will Give me nothing i cannot handle--i just wish he didn't trust me so much

For me blood tests mean nothing- I'm sero negative for RF and my ESR and CRP are either normal or just slightly elevated ever since my meds took hold. Sometimes I feel really achy and crappy and they are still normal. My RA was dx by alot of factors that were visual. My inflammation markers at onset were off the charts high and I had excessive swelling. I guess I was "lucky" to have presented so severely. If I went with my current complaints and blood work I'm not sure they would be so quick to say RA...
Good luck to you!

I'm sorry I don't have much to offer, but be persistent for treatment - you're in agonoizing pain and you need help now! Someone will listen...but it may take some insisting.  blood tests for me have also not been good indicators of my situation. I'll be barely able to move and my tests will come back normal.

the only other suggestion is stretching...maybe it'll help a bit. I have/had some issues with my shoulders popping really bad (brusitis-like issue). They still do, but not withe very movment like they used to. My doc had me do a series of neck and shoulder stretches and after a few weeks, the popping eased up a bit.

good luck and keep us posted!
