I was wondering if u all take it at the same time everyday? Also if you miss a day do u notice a difference the next day? I kind of just assumed since it can take so long to kick in that it's not as senstive to taking it at the same time everyday like something fast acting such as celebrex or something. I'm Terrible at remembering to take my meds everyday and being that I'm on about 5 right now just really makes me sick ( emotionally and physically) so I tend to put it off. Thanks in advance for any replies! One more thing, my swelling is slowly improving but, in some ways I feel worse like muscle aches and just other pains in general.... did any of you find you seemed to get worse in some ways before the meds fully kicked in?

I take mine in a split dose. 200mgs in the AM 200 in the PM. If I forget a dose I take it with the next dose.
I have to be off of it about a week to really notice a difference.

Thanks that is pretty much what I figured. Some days I am hobbling around and seem to b going backwards when other days I really feel like I'm seeing an improvement... I'm just trying to see where the connection is and trying to find a pattern so I can quit doing whatever it is that makes me feel so darn lousy. Mind u it's nothing compared to what I felt before meds thank god.

I'm afraid feeling so darn lousy is the nature of the beast :( for some people, even when they're loaded with meds. There are ups and downs, but it may feel like there are many more downs than ups!

One of my sisters went into remission on Hydroxychloroquine I believe, (Plaq* whatever, in the states) after about 12 months, but my other couldn't tolerate it at all. I've never tried it myself.

The first time I took plaquenil for about a year and it put me into a pretty good partial remission that lasted for seven years. Partial remission meaning I felt 90% better then before and only had an occassional swollen knee.
Second time I started taking it it helped tremendously with the fever, fatigue, stiffness but did not remove the joint inflamation so I added methotrexate and am not doing great. I feel normal most days but still once in a while will wake up with 5 swollen joints and have to call my doc for a medrol dose pack.

CMRB,

Yes, my muscles do seem to hurt worse some days. I have Fibro though so I'm not really sure what pain is coming from where. I have also had some weird reactions on Plaquenil too like a flu-like feeling and I get really tired sometimes.

I also take it twice a day - but not at exactly the same time. It takes about 5 days before I feel missing it...a dose here and there, I'm okay....but, if I miss a dose 'here and there' a LOT....it does catch up with me after a while. Then, when I start taking it regularly again, I have to go through all the tummy troubles readjusting to a full dose again for a few days.

I do take a super B complex every morning as well.....if I miss a lot of that, my fatigue increases.

Maybe you need a stronger DMARD such as MTX?
