confused  Today was the worst day I have had since my diagnosis two years ago.  The pain is excruciating.  I go from having severe chills to sweat rolling down my face from hot flashes. I am not sure what is wrong.  Last week my rheumy put me on prednisone for a few days.  He told me to stop taking the humira and the mtx. I had already taken my dosage for the week.  Don't know if I have given mtx enought time. Only been on it two months.
Got up two days in a row with leg cramps and chills.  So hard to sit on the commode.  What a way to live.
I wonder if we bring flare-ups on ourselves by doing too much. I have always been so outgoing.  In the last year, I have had to close my business, move from my home into my sister's house. I struggle to maintain some portion of my life.  I've never been one to lie in bed, but I have absolutely no energy.
Several years ago I was involved in a car wreck and suffered a  broken pelvic. I had to take a lot of pain meds and consequently, I have built up a tolerance for pain med.  Nothing seems to help.  I take vicodin, but I have to moniter the usage so as not to become addicted. Because of that I am only getting a limited amount of relief.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You were on prednisone for a few days? Did it help, are you still taking it?
I think I would start with a trip to my GP-the fevers and chills might be the RA it does that sometimes. It might also be an infection which might be hard to identify due to the MTX and Humira which you were on.
If the GP rules out infection or viral illness then I would call my rhuemy-or have the doctor do so-and ask for more intervention (perhaps more prednisone).

Thank you all for your suggestions and encouragement. This has been the worst flare up I have had since being diagnosed. I am so glad to have found this site. Just having someone who understands my suffering had helped me.  I see the GP on Thursday and maybe I can get some answers.  I have been taking the mtx for over a year and the Humira for a couple of months.  I just started on the prednisone last week.  My RA only gave me a week's supply. Once again, thanks.

I understand how you feel, today. Trully I do. I think you need to get in for better pain management. They need to do something. I would suggest having them check for a viral infection as well. Could be the flue or even coming off some of the meds. Feel better. Hugs, Heather
