eyes  just putting this question out there to see if anyone else experiences the same thing:

does anyone get golfball size black and blues around their knee joints?  without bumping into anything either?
the chain of events is as follows; i get BAD joint pain and throbbing in the knees, then after a day or so there appear bruises.  most are green/black and blue ball shaped bruises that look like they have little pinpricks (red) in the middle.  and the others are lesion like, smaller but all over the leg area.  this happens no where else on me but the lower extremities, mostly the knee and lower leg.
typically this happens after/during a great deal of knee pain and swelling.
just curious.
i'm thinking that it's at the worst related to the swelling and interrupted blood flow from inflammation? eyes
thanks so much
erin

Erin, though your guess might be right - I'd go in and show your doc when you have something to show. Just go in w/o an appointment if need to be to be looked at for 5 minutes or less.

Could this also be a result of a vitamin deficiency w/all your chron's/weight problems right now? Golf ball sized bruises - does that mean they are raised or that is the size of the bruise?

Take care and get lots of rest.

thanks,
they are raised, but not enourmous. the bruises are the size of a golfball round...but raised like 1/4 inch.
i was going to take pictures of them...i should have.
i've got a rheummy appt on the 20th. maybe something will turn up.

I wonder if you can contact the Arthritis Foundation and see if they can help point you in the right direction of a diagnosis.

a-hah!  a new one sprouted on my R elbow...it's on both sides of the elbow and has 4 round spots that are red too and looks like it's about to bruise. confused
hate to say it, but i hope it continues till my rheummy appt next week...just so he'll see for himself.

oh geez!

I know what you mean about wanting it to still be there. I still think you need to walk in on your rheumy or pcp or someone to get it looked at and notated asap!

i know...
you're right. i have a lot of mobility problems and just "getting" to the doc is an ordeal. my rheummy is in the next city over & i have to take the bus over (which is only 1/2 hour, so not too bad) and my PCP is just 6 blocks walking distance...but when in a flare & pain, i'm kinda in trouble. and the kicker...money! i'm trying to keep away as much as possible because i just don't have it...i know that's terrible but it's the truth. and if you don't pay first, YOU'RE NOT SEEN! nice system huh?
so it's kinda like a "stuck" situation.
i have no car, and there really isn't anyone around at my disposal to drive me places...so it's me that has to get ME there.
the good thing is that the hospital is around the corner. so i know i'm never in too much trouble!
but i'm very restricted, you know? that's the best way i can put it. and my boyfriend is on a TIGHT schedule and he doesn't get home until 8 or 9 @ nite.
i suppose all people with mobility issues have to go through this in some degree.
but my appt. is not too far away, just a few more days.
i really think i need a better plan of action to control the RA and joint pain...this is ridiculous. alone, the Humira i feel isn't doing a thing so far. hopefully he puts me on a combo. i'm desperate, i'll do anything. i'm at the point i would have both knees replaced TODAY if someone offered to do it!
oh well!
gotta keep truckin along!!!!
thanks for listening Camama.
take care

I'm hear for ya, Erin and you know it! tongue

I'm so sorry to hear what you are going through. I wish I could wiggle my fingers and make you better. So much is going on with you and is so worriesome. It's a good thing I'm not your Mom or sister - I'd be on your case with worry constantly, you'd stop answering your door! Funny how that works, it's feast or famine with how we want to be treated by our loved ones.  I want my mom to stop nagging me to leave my family and go to Mayo but I want my husband to care more and (more importantly) understand. He sees me as a fat lazy good for nothing (not exactly his words) who has no umph to get up and get things done except play.

But, once again, I digress. Here's wishing you better health and some answers as well as treatment to start feeling better. I understand your money issues and it frustrates the heck out of me people can't get the help they need when they need it. Be it medical or financial or whatever, you have to be on your death bed, in the red so far you've lost almost everything or who knows what else - it's not there until it is too late. It stinks.
