Hi,  I was wondering if any one else suffers from this?  I have been getting very scary problems in the morning when I wake up.  My neck and shoulders will ache very bad and I get pins and needles sensations in my arms.  When I try to lift my arms, they feel like they are 200 lbs. each and sometimes I can't seem to move them at all for a while.  I would think that it would be that they just "fell asleep" however I sleep on my side and if this is the cause wouldn't just one not both fall asleep?  I'm not sure, maybe I'm just making myself nuts over this but I occasionally get scared about paralysis of my arms.  I am going to be making an appointment with my chiropractor to see if I can get ultrasound/electro therapy however I don't know what else to do for it.  Unfortunately, there isn't much options for this DD except medication and creams (and chiro therapy)... unless someone else has any other ides? sad

Hi,

I don't know if it's the same thing as you, but I have back pain that comes on during the night, usually lower back, but I get pain in the upper back/neck area quite often.  Feels stiff, like I just need a really good massage or stretching it out.  That never helps though.  The part that got my attention though is about your arms.  I know my arms fall asleep most nights.  I think it's happening because the nerve in the elbow is getting compressed or something.  I'm wondering if it's dangerous to have my arms falling asleep so often.  I get arthritis pain in my fingers, but other than that I don't have problems with them.  All I need to do is move them and they wake back up.

Thanks Lynne, Mine also wake up after a few minutes and they hurt real bad to move them mostly because I feel like they are so heavy. I have tried sleeping on my back to see if that may be it but I always end up rolling over to the side. I think what you say makes sense about the elbows being compressed or maybe even the shoulders.

i also have this stiffness and constant ache in my neck and shoulder blades the pain is now spreading down both arms the left mainly. i awake every morning with numbness that tingles in my arms and hands. I have been diagnosed with DDD of the cervical spine with spondylosis. I just had an mri to see if something is compressing a nerve. Has anyone had any luck getting disability for this. I have worked the past 12 years at a desk job on the computer all day and cant stand to sit for long periods of time because i physically feel like i need to hold my head up.

I'm right there with you prewitt. I had nerve conduction study just today as well as an IM cortisone shot. It's awful.
