Hey guys

Woke up tonight with my heart racing. And now my pain is preventiNG me from falling asleep. I was in a bad motorcycle accident in 2006, and then up until 2 years ago I was taking pain killers like perkaset and oxy. But then my doctor retired and I haven't gotten a new doctor yet. Plus apparently not many doctors will prescribe those types of pain killers unless you just recently had surgery.

Can anyone recommend anything for me? I live in Toronto, Canada. Anyone know a doctor taking patients? Or know any medication that can help with chronic pain? Nothing over the counter helps and I really don't know what to do! I have no pain meds left.

I have a 1 year old son and I just want to be pain free so I can have a better life and be more active.

All the best everyone.

John

Hi John,

I empathize with you, not only because having RA I deal with pain too but because my nephew was also in a very bad motorcycle accident and is still in a lot of pain years later. Have you seen a pain specialist? Someone recently posted a question for "Pain Medication Advice" (or similar) that had a lot of good responses - I would check that out. I hope you find a sympathetic doctor and some relief soon.
Diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2005 and rheumatoid arthritis in 1998. On Remicade since 2005 for both diseases. For UC tried sulfasalazine, Lialda, colazal and others which made me ill. Started 50 mg. Imuran July 2015. Use peppermint oil capsules and Bentyl which help during a flare and with IBS symptoms.

Caregiver for mother with Alzheimer's Disease (for Alz. forum).

Thank you Alice. Ill have a look. I never took pain management but did lots of physio. It's tough getting things going. Sorry to hear about your nephews experience, thanks for your advice.

Best,

John
