Hello all,

I'm new to this board, most of my time has been spent over on the GERD board but nice to see another very welcoming and helpful community here.

I've had what the called costochondritis pain in my rib cage for the last 2 years. I've had ANA test coming back mildly positive but my old doctor refused to say if I had a problem because he said I was too young (I'm 44) and not in constant pain)

Fast forward to last Monday and woke up with horrible sternum pain. By wednesday I could barely move. Went in for a massage and was told I had swelling in several joints and all over my rib cage. On Thursday I could not move without being in excruciating pain in and around my shoulders. It's a burning heavy pain. Friday went to my doctor and she said I in fact had a few positive tests and was sending me to a rheumatologist. She gave me 20 Mg of predisone. Friday and Saturday I was feeling much better so Saturday I went out and about for a normal day. Then last night I again was in excruciating pain now in my shoulders, rib cage, hips, knees and especially in my fingers (my pinky finger is awful). Now it's Sunday and I'm lying here in pain again. The pain is manageable as long as I don't move but if I move around at all it flares back up and becomes intolerable.

Does this sound familiar? Should I be concerned at all it seems to be getting worse after 7 days or is this normal? Should I go to immediate care to get rechecked or just wait for the referral to go through?

Thanks so much for any help or insight. I know it's a long shot since I haven't been diagnosed with RA yet but was hoping you all might know more since it sounds like I'm dealing with inflammation.

Thank you!!!

The predisone should be easing you, unless you did too much on your good day.
When I take a short round of predisone on the 3rd day after the last dose I feel terrible. Was yours a short round?

Thanks so much for the reply Couchtater. They gave me 20 Mg for 5 day and then 10 Mg for 5 days. I'm now on day 4 today. It's milder today but still not feeling great especially if I get up and move around.
