Hi All!

I've recently joined healing well and have posted a couple of times on the lupus boards. I am in a holding pattern right now, not really sure what I have but know somethings going on. Just a quick background, I have MS, had it for about 10 years, was having some symptoms that weren't fitting the MS picture (tendonitis, just a not feeling well feeling). My doctor's run bloodwork and thought it may be something rheumatological. My tests came back ANA positive 1:160, homogeneous pattern and CCP was 37. ESR was elevated at 38 and normal RF. No other antibodies tested were out of range.

Recently, I've started getting swelling and pain in my fingertips, getting very cold (almost turning purple) and my derm. mentioned it could be Raynauds. Is this common with RA? Also, my ankles have been stiff and swollen, kind of feels weird to walk. Is this a symptom? Sorry for the questions, I'm going to follow up with my primary dr. but thought I'd at least introduce myself and read through the messages on this forum.

Take care!

Raynaud's can happen on its own or with another autoimmune condition.

Hi Littleflower and Welcome! :)

I was dxd. with secondary Raynauds several yrs after I was dxd. with RA. I had pain in my knuckles(not the tips) and ankles from RA, so I didn't associate finger pain with Raynauds. My hands both turned medium blue the first time. I wondered what everyone was looking at until I looked at my hands. It looked like I was wearing blue gloves. I thought I was dying, of course(I was young).

I have mild secondary Raynauds. No meds for it in particular. My nose, hands, feet and ears are usually cold. If I hold something frozen for 10 seconds, my hands hurt, freeze, turn white, then red and sometimes a lighter blue and a pain shoots up my arm. I feel cold most of the time. The slightest breeze will give me a chill. My hubby and I sometimes argue about the a/c being on. I usually lose that one.
I really enjoy wearing a sweater in the house during the summer. :/ That cold part could be a symptom of RA too.

Having a low grade fever and flu-like symptoms are common with RA.
Please do not have RA on top of MS.

Ask any questions that you want and we'll try to help you out. That is one of the reasons we are here. Feel better!
