Good morning ladies, and the occasional wandering guy,

I've been on a reduced amount of MTX for 2 months now and feel better than ever. I hope to reduce it further at my next Rheumy visit.

Winter has hit Durango, we've been pretty cold, but not a lot of snow. Still, the mountain biking has been great, I've ridden in 28 deg weather, yesterday it was 32 and the trail was snow covered. Makes for a harder ride, but lots of fun.
Sunday is a good day for me to have a hard ride, because Sunday nites I have take my shots. I still really hate them, and it is getting harder for me to give myself two shots, not easier. I start thinking about it Sunday morning, if I don't get the distraction of a long hard ride, I tend to think about it all day.

My wife has been very encouraging. She suggests I think of that time a year back, before I started the shots.
I was not mountain biking then, I could hardly walk.

Merry Christmas Ladies, get stronger in 2006 ... Craig

Moanin' all,
Craig, you're great.  No pain no gain.  It's getting harder for me too, to give myself my Humira shots in the stomach.  But I oh so want to get back to nursing and working. They are starting to sting & burn.   I definitely think "Whatever doesn't kill you DOESN'T MAKE YOU STRONGER...it makes you MORE DETERMINED!"
Hey Ducky, Oreo & Camama!  Hows my gals.  Oreo, how's the sinuses?
Camama, why is the hubby P.O.'d about you flying out???  confused It's next year for cryin' out loud!
My hands are better.   :-) Thank the Lord.  Had a great weekend.  Went to my honey's office Christmas party.  Beautiful big house the Dr. hosting it had!  The Karaoke was tremendous.  After me downing 6 glasses of wine  devil ...YES, Erin got to shake her tailfeathers!!!!!!!!! yeah   yeah   yeah  I taught them all how to "Tina Turner" correctly to "Rollin Down the River".   tongue I was a hoot.  tongue I tell ya, I'll never look at these docs the same again when I see them @ the hospital!  It was hysterical.  A great great time & well needed.
There was a nice article about Enbrel and it's treated Psoriatic arthritis & depression!  On msn news...they spoke very highly of Enbrel.
Having a little flare of the Crohns....bummer... sad bloody frequent "D".  I think it's from sneaking in some eggplant and veggies and being exhausted.  But the hands are much much better...thanks for all the good thoughts.
Have a happy monday....stay warm.

Thanks Craig, you are awesome and an inspiration!

Erin, hubby thinks the trip is a stupid waste of time and money.

I am going to see if I can find that msn article you are talking about, I'd like to read it.

Moanin' all,

MERRY DAY-AFTER!  I hope everyone is doing OK.  It was brutal!  A lot of fun....but too much to keep up with.  Good thing my honey has off today.

A very nice time was had by all.
Joints were not happy though.
Neither were the bowels!  Went overboard I think!
Have a happy day everyone.

Moanin' to you all as well. Gotta clean up the aftermath around here. Went out of town Monday, was out most of today (Tuesday) and now have to tackle the holiday remains!

Been aching and sore myself. Joints and bowels as well! sad I did well not eating out the house on Sunday AND I didn't eat my self in to a sugar freenzy either! I was amazingly good, actually.

I started a diet today. Wish me luck. I do so ever need it. The luck I need is to actually LOOSE weight and stay healthy enough to keep working at it!  I am so sick of working hard at it and not dropping anything after 6-8 weeks to help keep my enthusiasm going or doing really well and then getting bedridden with lung infections. But, I'm going to give the old 1-2 once again. I hope and pray this time the Gods will be smiling my direction and shoot the old metabolism and immune system with some health and energy to finally get me in to a healthier, happier, stronger body and more focused mind!

Moanin' all,
Hey Camama...the MOST important thing that you are doing and HAVE been doing, IS NOT GIVING UP!  Yeah ya get knocked down...but you never quit for good.  You demonstrate the drive and want for this to happen....and that's the main thing.
I think to myself so many times, how many times I've been set back with work/school and everything, but I never hang up the towel for good...NEVER!  Even if it means having to go on long a haitus....like you said....give it the old 1  2  .
Speaking of sugar frenzy!    tongue LOL....I'm in a major CD flare, and the ONLY thing that is NOT causing major cramps is SWEETS!! hah.  I guess because the carbs and sugar are easy to digest?
What's everybody doing for New Years???

The only blessing in having a crohns flare right now is that I had a whopper of a pred dose...so hopefully that will keep my joints in check as it is supose to storm tonight. eyes
Here's to a decent day!
erin
ps....Camama, how's your little girl doing???  Best wishes.

I hope your body cooperates and stops hurting you! May the pred keep the joints from hurting and control some of that Chrons flare as well.

Daughter is FINALLY all better - yeah! Her belly is back in business, the hives are completely gone. yeah

I am just sick of looking at myself and sick of the weight - but it is so difficult to work so hard at trying to loose weight and not be thrown a little encouragement by the jeans or the scale, ya know? I'm gonna do the best I can and try to get exercise in as well if my joints and schedule will cooperate.

Hey Erin, how are you feeling today? Last night's storm kicked my butt, but I am good today! Have been motivated, took uniforms to the cleaners, stopped at the store and picked some stuff up, put up ALL the Christmas decorations, cleaned BOTH kids rooms, gave the dog a bath and have laundry going! :) Woo-hoo!

Hey CaMama, glad to hear that your daughter is finally on the mend! Would hate to bring in the New Year feeling crappy! Have you ever tried doing Pilates? I got the DVDs and it's mainly just a lot of stretching, but you'd be surprised how much it works you out... After the new year, I am going to go back to the gym and doing my pilates again... it felt good on my joints and muscles to stretch... or maybe water aerobics if you have access to a pool. You can do it! I have faith in you!

Hope everyone is having a good day! - Duck

Goodmoanin' all!
The storm & rain kicked my butt too.  sad In a flare both with the joints and the CD.  Chest hurts so bad that I really can't talk well and hurts to breath (the costochondritis acting up).
So this stinks.
But what can ya do?  Making the best of it & hopefully it won't get much worse over the weekend.  Still raining.  Blah!
Time to get comfy cozy! tongue

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2006!

Hoping that everyone has a better year with lots of improvements. {wait a minute...seems like I've been saying that to myself for 10 years! hah!}  Oh well...never to give up!!  Hooray to 2006.

It's been a reall lousy start.  The RA and CD flare got WORSE!  Made it through the weekend, terrible joint pain.  Almost a trip to the ER, by like 5 minutes, if it had gotten any worse.  The rain/snow/storm is doing a job on me.  Blah!

Camama, what's new??  Oreo, how's it going??  Duck...takin it easy on your feet??  Speakin of feet....how's Boo??

I'de like to wish all our new members a Happy New Year & a BIG WELCOME to HealingWell.  We all have to stick together in this.  One hour at a time if need be.

Moanin' all,

I tell ya, you all are lifesavers.  Really, sometimes even my friends and boyfriend really don't "get it" as much as you all do...and they see me all the time.
                                                                So thank you
Hey Camama, how are you doing?  Are ya OK?  Haven't heard from you in a bit.  In my thoughts.
And Oreo too?
I'm a mummy....need to invest in more ACE bandages! LOL.  Have 4 patches on each knee.  I feel like such an athlete.  LOL.

Hey there, sorry for the long delay in posts. I'm up and down with joint pain. Not terrible, thank goodness (knock on wood), but doing what I can. The diet is still going (trying at least), I haven't exercised in a couple of days due to foot pain (it actually has a sprained feeling to it.) The belly's acting up the last 2 days and let's just say it's a good thing we buy TP at Costco. redface   Needless to say, after 10 days of dieting, I've only dropped about 1 1/2 lbs at best.

We had horrible rain on Monday. Yesterday it was 37 degrees when my daughter left for school, today it was 63. It didn't get up to 60 a few days ago and today it hit 80. We have a santa ana with really hot winds, and I actually feel worse than I did on Monday with all the rain! I have a new pain as well. Don't know if I strained somthing wrestling my son in to the bath the other day or something else is going on, It's my back left side of the spine area. seems just to the right of where my spleen would be. I should probably apply one of those patches I have on it at this point. The belly ache is aggrivating it, I think as well.

Saw PCP for follow up on Tuesday.Got a flu shot (first time ever - could that cause the bowel problems I'm having?) Bloodwork showed liver enzymes back to normal. Glucose back in normal range but cholestrol a bit high (hereditary problem, but doc said ultimately important I get that DOWN low.) Liver ultrasound - though the size of it has decreased since last year, it was showing signs of problems/possible damage. Doc says no can do the birth control, drinking (don't do much anyway) and gotta try and stay off Tylenol (forgot to ask if that meant Motrin as well - either way, how can I stay off that stuff???)

Kids are back in school and we're getting readjusted back to life. My son (4 1/2 yrs) seems to have a crush on a girl in school that is reciprocted apparently. He's the only boy in the class invited to her princess birthday party on Saturday. Too cute.

I hope you all start feeling better! I'm sorry the weather is so rotten for you. You gotta move out here. Erin, were/are you affected by that transit strike I read about the other day?

cool  California here I come. cool
Hah!  The transit strike...what a stunt.  These poor folks.  Whatever they had on the news....wasn't at all that bad.  Believe me, mass transit?...it's worse when it snows.  The MTA is always a mess, so it's not such a deviation from the norm.  BUT WHAT about THOSE PEEPS WALKIN' OVER THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE????? Holy cow!
That was the worst part I think.  But the one great thing about NY and NJ is....we're good at one thing....and that's stickin' together. :-)
We did it through 9/11... we do it all the time.  There's a big brotherhood up here which is very unique.
Quite honestly, people need to walk..so I think the delays in transit was a blessing in disguise (unless of course you're sick).
Awe man, sorry about your foot and back.  What else do you need really??
Don't get discouraged about your dieting.  Heck....stay clear of all scales! 1 and a half poumds in 10 days is good! At least you know it's just not water weight.  Have you tried going mostly vegetarian??  It can be quite tasty and ya eat high volumes of food that's low calorie and healthy.
Should we bump up our "Weight Group" thread again??  Not a bad idea eh? New Year...New OUTLOOK on life.  My cholesterol is SOARING...so I think I'll bump it up! LOL.
I wish you well mama.  Hows your girls tummy?  I really do not think your flu shot would aggravate your bowels...stress YES! apprehension YES! But sometimes when people get IM shots, they get a vaso vagal syndrome which can feel like nausea/urgency to defecate etc....
That's way cute about your boy.  :-)   Oh to be sweet and innocent.  Hmmmm...my first crush was David Bowie...I've been naughty since 4 years old. tongue
