Hi Guys well ive been out of action for a bit as had a bad flare up we moved house and I had heaps of tests going on at same time all I wanted to do was crawl into a ball in a corner of the room
I have had my 3rd visit to the neurologist & had the EEG done and it came back Abnormal this time I got his registrar he basically re-asked all the same questions poked and probed me ordered a heap of tests to see Why it was Abnormal
so I went to get the blood test done which under our health system are usually free and got charged $120 (oh This test isn't covered) would have been nice to know beforehand then went for the next test a nerve test and got another $120 fee (seems to be the preferred amount) then I get electrocuted testing my nerves Pain level HIGH and I was annoyed because I had this Same test done by a different Dr a few years ago if he'd told me he was going to do that I could have saved both pain & money and got him the results from that one

Anyway then I go to have the Dreaded MRI and the last time they tried to do one I had a Full on Panic attack and they said they would Not do one again unless I went to a different place that uses Sedation so we drive the 50km (about 30 miles) to the next town and they inserted a cannula and gave me the First dose Nope Not sedated still Freaking out Then they gave me More So I was half awake/half asleep and handled it pretty well only had a mild panic when the machine stopped making a noise ( I thought they had gone home & left me there-I know silly) Anyway the machine restarted & I was fine.
so then for the rest of that day I was pretty groggy

Anyway Long Story I go to my Local Doctor Tomorrow he should have the MRI results as I don't go back to Neurologist till late Next Month

Meanwhile I am still writing Everything down as I Forget What I want to do can't read a book because I forget what I just read
and I can't carry a cup of tea without shaking and spilling it Everywhere
oh and I am either Angry or Crying depending on the feeling at that minute
shocked

BadDay, I am sorry you've had to go through such an ordeal! It's bad enough being sick but dealing with doctors, repeated tests, unexpected expenses, etc., adds insult to injury.

You are smart to write everything down. With so much going on and feeling anxious it is hard to remember all the details. Do you have anyone nearby to help you?

I noticed below that you are on Prednisone. I hope you aren't needing to take a high dose. That can wreak havoc with your emotions and make anxiety a lot worse. Maybe you can talk to your doctor and see if it can be replaced with something equally effective? Just a thought. But you always have to taper off prednisone so talk to your doctor first.

Did you get the results from your MRI?
Diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2005 and rheumatoid arthritis in 1998. On Remicade since 2005 for both diseases. For UC tried sulfasalazine, Lialda, colazal and others which made me sick. Use peppermint oil capsules and Bentyl which help during a flare and with IBS symptoms, and turmeric, krill oil, CoQ10 and Methyl B12.

Hi Alice Thanks,
No I did not get the results of the MRI as we live in the country all tests done are sent to Sydney (main city) to be "reported on" and as we had a public holiday on Monday it slowed things down plus I think they use carrier pigeons it is so slow.
I have been on prednisone for about 30 years first starting for my asthma then the RA and yes was on Very high doses 40mg day for 15-20 yrs I have side effects from that - rounded face, bad teeth Osteoporosis ect
I have gotten down to 7.5mg per day that took a long time to do and I was going up to 25mg at times for a few days then it takes anything up to a month to get back to the 7.5 I decided last time I did that I would put up with the pain & not increase it rather than go thru the dropping down again.
my Rheumy says I can Never stop taking it now as I no longer produce my own cortisone?? so I guess I'm stuck with it but I try to keep getting lower doses.

Can you see an Endrocrinologist for a second opinion? They specialize in hormones and maybe they can help you get off the prednisone, if it's possible. It would be worth getting another doctor's opinion if you are able to.
