Is it really important to know what KIND of arthritis you have

Most of the arthritis diseases except for RA/ OA use the same thing for treatements. Is it imortant to find out exactly what kind you have??

Hey Pam - yes it is important... some medicines are better for certain types of Arthritis... take for instance Psoriatic Arthritis, Enbrel is proven more effective than Humira... Humira will work, but most people get better results from the Enbrel. It's all about each individual also... some people may not be able to tolerate Enbrel... or mtx... talk to your doctor and let us know what happens - duck
Diagnosed January 2005 - Psoriatic Arthritis/Spondylitis
-Currently taking 50mg shot weekly of Enbrel
Diagnosed May 1998 - Graves Disease
-Complete Thyroidectomy September 1998 - While 11 weeks pregnant
Other Complications - GERD/Scoliosis/Hiatal Hernia/Graves Disease of the Eyes
Current Meds -  Enbrel/Prevacid/Synthroid
Past Meds - Inderal/PTU/Prednisone/Voltaren/Feldene/Mobic/Cortisone and Steroid Shots

I had blood work for arthtris dr says test came out normal sed rate was 15 but 4 ortho drs say i need a knee replacement i have o/a threw out my body and i also have psoriasis iam 49 and have had it for 24 years family dr says i don't need rumy dr since test came out good allery dr says i need a skin dr but the lesions i have had everything in the last 24 years and a lot of it didn't help the psoriasis so now do i have both forms arthritis or where should i go from here pain dr has treeted me for 6 years iam on zanaflex,ultram,elavil,celerbrex and i have fm he says i just don't know who to believe any more my pain dr wrote my meds for 1 year and said i could by pass him cause i needed life time nerve block injections so why was he seeing me every 3 months for and taking my money so if any one knows which dr i belong with please post DEB

You need a rheumy deb... at least for a 2nd opinion, sounds like they've got you going through the ringer... can you get in to see a rheumy?
