:-)  I don't know if anyone else is out there, but here goes.  I've had psoriasis for 27 years, I'm 29 now.  I've had psoriatic, and rheumatoid since I was 11.  I've run the gamut with treatments, methotrextate, sadiosporine, folic acid, and 500mg of tolectin all at once when I was 13.  I'm in a major outbreak and would love to speak to anyone whith psoriasis who can help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi stephie and Welcome to Healing Well. Sounds like you have been run through the mill. Have you tried any of the biologics for treatment? I have Psoriasis as well as Psoriatic Arthritis and I am on Enbrel. I started Enbrel in March and since then, my outbreaks have been contained to maybe 3 spots on my body smaller than a dime. Are you being seen by a rheumatologist? Maybe you should talk to them about trying a biologic. Also, ask them about temovate cream. Or maybe a dermatologist.
Temovate cream is a steriod ointment that you put on your plaques twice a day, and it has worked wonders for me. I hope you are doing well, please keep us posted on what you decide - Duck

Hi Stephie, I'm so sorry to hear you are suffering right now. We've all been there and know how miserable it is!

I was also diagnosed at 11 w/JRA (I'm 35 now), I had psorisis issues then as well, but for some reason, the rheumy I had at the time never addressed it or treated it. I have been dx since with RA and psoriatic arthritis.

I have yet to be able to get relief from a major outbreak on my own - Remicade had come to my rescue a the last most severe one. The biologicals do wonders. I'm off Remicade now and may be starting Enbrel in Jan or Feb.  I've been taking Plaquinil since April (though it stay not to take w/psorisis, my doc wants me on it) and it's been doing wonders for the joints, the psorisis is slightly worse than it used to typically be, but I know overall my case is really mild by comparision and for the most part (knock on wood) it has been ugly but tolerable. None of the standard NSAID have ever helped me, Plaquinil is one of 3 meds I've actually felt results from the other 2 being Remicade and Sulfasalazdine.

Good luck - until the doctor is available, I guess I would sugest a baking soda bath to soften the skin (help the itchies?), and use some OTC creams - I found Cetaphil Cream to help a little when it gets painful.  I didn't get much help from using cortizone cream - but you might find it helpful to put on first then "seal" it with a lotion or cream. Also, I found avoiding certain food  helps (milk really aggrivates psorisis for me - but I have a problem with dairy.)

Happy New Year. **

HI I also suffer from psoriasis.  I tried steroids aond other creams but they didn't help me.  i tried sea salt scrubs last year and it cleared up. I now use sea salt in my bath about a cup at least once a week. it hasn't come back since last June.  You can get scrubs at the drug store or walmart and the sea salt at health food store or grocery  under  $2. It is worth a try.  good luck..  I also used lotion with vitimin E after every salt scrub.
