Out of the ordinary this is.  I've always had urine analysis come back negative...

But @ my last PCP visit 3 weeks ago...had some complaints, but mentioned the fact that i've noticed i haven't been urinating as much as normal.  Asking him if it was a normal thing since i'm on and off pred; and I know that some narcotics do indeed cause urinary retention. And that's why I'm not peeing as much?
Well he said he doesn't think there is a correlation.
Did a UA and culture.
Spilling ketones.
confused
Hmmmmm? I'm not protein deficient and I do not follow those Atkins diets (which can cause you to become ketonic).  As far as I know I am not a diabetic.  BS fasting was fine...throughout the day BS was fine.  I have no glucose in the urine either.
So is my body eating it's own fat and muscle?  eyes I am atrophied.
Anybody else have this that's NOT diabetic?
My weight is still stabilized at 94 to 95 pounds, and I have been eating more?....so what gives?
Of course, no one from my docs office calls back....  mad argh!....
Not too worried, just curious! :-)
Thanks a bunch.

Hmm, haven't experienced that problem that I know of. If anything, I probably have the opposite problem.

The only thing I can think of is upping your carb intake and possibly adding some more protien in your diet. Your a vegitarian, right? Do you eat any meat/fish/chicken whatsoever? Would that help at all if you were to add a little in to your diet?

Did they test for thyroid or hypoglycemia? Would that cause it as well? You test differently for those than just a BS test, right?

Good luck. I'm interested in hearing what the doc says.

Erin,

I am by no means a doctor and these are just my thoughts and opinions. Do you have any sort of kidney disease or damage. Sometimes patient's with ESRD (End stage renal disease) their ketones can be out of wack especially when you haven't been urinnating as much as usual.

thank you Camama & Rene,

i eat plenty of carbs!  i'm not strict vegetarian either...i will have eggs and fish. my fluid intake is OK.  so i don't think it's a diet thing.

from what i know, i only hear this with kidney/renal insufficiency like you said Rene.  i guess i'll just be on watch & do one of those 24 hour urine tests.

this is just a first for me...taken by surprise..but i'm sure my rheummy will look into it friday.

thanks a bunch!

tongue  What was your BUN doing up? Okay, I guess I can't make any silly remarks beyond that?

In all seriousness, what is that?
