is abbott kidding here or what? sad

my rhuemy says to me today you tested negative for HLAB27
soo....what, that means i dont have any pain in my spine ? confused

then why is my spine curving laterally in the lumbar? why am i in such pain?
why did my mom have PA and my brudder have it PA and celiac sprue and i tested neg? confused

so he shrugs his shoulders and says maybe you can try humeria heres a prescription for it and an abbott card for 300 off your first 6 months of treatments but we will see if you insurance will cover it first. redface

NO prednisone, no other trials of any thing else?
he says we will do a repeat of your sed rate.
so thats it?

HLAb27 is neg so that s it?
1500 a month for two shots?
i have united but i am sure they are not gonna be happy to hear about these shots.
why does the pharmactu industry make shots for people then make it so expensive no one can afford them? why have them at all then???

Hey Missie, I just posted a reply on another post... basically put, you need a 2nd opinion... PA can affect your spine also and mimick the symptoms of Ankylosing Spondylitis... I have PA and spondylitis and also my HLA-B27 is NEGATIVE... You are not alone... you need a 2nd opinion... I am on Enbrel and I no longer have unbearable pain in my spine... Every once in a while it will get sore and I'll take some Voltaren, but nothing like it was before... see if you can talk to another doctor... good luck to you and let us know what you decide - Duck

hi ducky- if i get another doc he is going to test me again right for HLAb27?
can this test come back negative again or is it the lab?
can people be tested neg for this but show up on another gene?
this guy plays by the book it seems. if it is not positive, then he thinks it is just fibro and skin psoriais.
first he says polyarthritis, now it s just fibro?
not that i want allthese bad things i just want a difinte DX so i an stop driving myself crazy.
when i had appendix at 18, my symptoms were on my left side not my right side, they thought i had a ovarian cyst because of that.
when i had my gall bladder, i had pain in my back and not on my right side, i dont present as a reg clinically patient in mosst everything.
so my psoriasis does look like reg skin P
in my scalp but it is located in my scalp in back.
he doesnt know what to do with me as usual like most docs. i present different than most people

If you go to another doc, he may test you again... When I finally went to my rheumy, I had already had all that bloodwork too, but he wanted to have some done for his own piece of mine. But he diagnosed be PRIOR to my bloodwork... All the signs and symptoms were there and he said it himself... with PA, typically nothing shows up in bloodwork or x-rays, so its one of those process of eliminations diagnosis... I obviously had some type of arthritis, but with psoriasis and nothing in my bloodwork, my rheumy said, this is what it has to be... I have looked up some stuff online about PA and it says that people often get mis-diagnosed when they have PA 'cause the symptoms are so similar to OTHER Auto-immune disorders... hang in there, see if you can see a different doc and talk to you about what your old doc said... hopefully he'll listen.. best of luck to you- Duck
