Well, I finally made it to the pain clinic today.  Now my pain dr. thinks the pain in my hip could be necrosis.  I am scheduled for a MRI on Tues.  I am trying to find out about hip necrosis.  It almost sounds like a poblem that I had when I was 5 and 6 years old. I developed bone turmors in my hips.  I had surgery on both of them. One was a removal of bone and the other was a removal and then a replacement of bone.  I am just curcious (Sp) if this is anyway related to almost 50 years ago.

He upped my loracet to 6 a day and the lidoderm patches.  It still doesn't help much, that is unless I sit or lay down all the time.  Well, I can't just sit and get fatter by the minute. Lovely steroids, don't you just love them.  I might as well sit in front of the refrigerator and go for it!!!

I would appreciate any information form anyone that is familiar with hip necrosis and any of the other things that my body seems to be putting me through.

Thanks for the big shoulders to cry on today. It gets depressing. confused

wow, you have quite a laundry list of meds there!  Does your pharmacist routinely counsel you on potential interactions?  Just curious.  I'm taking several myself, but not nearly as many as you, and sometimes I wonder why so many pills?

I don't know much about hip necrosis except that it can be caused by steroid use over time.  Have you been on prednisone a long time?  That would do it, even at the low doses, I believe.  It sounds like an incredibly painful condition--you have my sympathies, truly.  I'm sure that Duck and Erin, and other more knowledgeable members will be around soon with better information for you.  In the meantime, feel better.

i think Straydog has dealt with and has some tyoe of avascular necrosis, not sure if it's the knees or hips?
i'm sure the osteoporosis isn't helping the situation either Jbrat.
when will you have the results from the MRI?
i'm sure the problems you had when younger add to t he condition.
i'm glad you're getting it looked at before it gets any worse.
in my prayers.
let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the replies. I haven't been on the computer for a couple of days.  I have tried to cut some of my meds out. But when I start doing that I end up getting a setback.  My main problem started from acid reflux that aspirated into my lungs. That is the main reason for beginning the steroids over 4-5 years ago. Well, when I get on  one drug then you have to take another to counter the side effects.  Now, I have so many pills to take each day, I shouldn't have room for any food.

chrondritisI did have the MRI yesterday, but I don't have the results yet.  My primary dr. did incease  my lasix to 40 mg twice a day. I have gained over 40 pounds since Christmas.  SO far I am not loosing alot of fluid from the increase.

My blood pressure stays high, I still have GERD, COPD, Osterarthritis, Osteoporisis (sp), depression (worse than ever now), Addison's Disease (from long term steroid use), my teeth are crumbing (from long term steroid use), chrondritis (inflamation of my ribs/cartlidge), I have had both of my knees replaced. The last one this past Nov.  I thought I had healed really well from that, but now I am back to having to use a walker and cane to get around.  It wouldn't be so bad, if only one side of my body was hurting, but it is my right hip, my left foot and NOW my right ribs.

I guess I must have really been something in my past lives Just kidding).  I do really think that maybe an ex-husband has a voodoo dool out there of me and keeps sticking nails in it.  You just have to try to laugh sometimes.

Thanks for the ears, and I will glading accept any advice anyone has to give.  Jbrat

I got the results from the MRI Thurs. My hip is not fractured and no necrosis. He said it look like bursitis. Well, yesterday the pain got so bad, he had me come in and he put a shot in the hip. I kow it is more steroids, but I had to have some releif. My pain dr, is so kind and empathic. He apologies for you being in pain. He told me, that noone should have to wait for 2 weeks or more to get pain releif.

I go back to my regular dr. on Tuesday, I am definitely going to have him re-xray the foot. I put a lidoderm patch on the top of the foot and it has helped some. But I still think this is another stress fracture.

Once again, thanks for the ears!!!!!!!!! Finding this site is very helpful to me. SOmeitmes people just get tired of hearing that yo feel bad all the time. I get tired of it myself.

God bless J
