i ddint really wantto do this as i supose it means thati am what i am. but i cant do the walk anymore like i used to and if i am going to travel or go to the airport i cant find a parking space and walk all the way anymore. so i broke down and asked my pcp if he would fill out the form for me to bring it to the dmv and i paid 1.50 for the mirror sticker to hang. it is good for 5 yrs and and is good in any state in the union.
i just cant cut it anymore with the walking distance sad sad sad sad

ah be HAPPY! i would! i don't have a car, but i'm thinking of asking for one. sometimes it is just impossible to make the distance. it doesn't mean you failed...it will help make things easier for you! if it makes ya feel better...just think of all the BOGUS handicap placards people get just because "they know someomes or pulled strings"...and these people are perfectly fit!
you're taking care of yourself & looking out for your best interest! now that's smart.

and if ya feel extra good....don't take a handicap spot!
good for you! i'm happy for you.

thank you erin!! i suppose i should be happy that they gave it to me but it was a long time in me asking for it as i  didnt wantto admit to myself that  i just cant do it anymore...... but i am happy that i have one now so hopefully it will be a little easier for me to shop, etc.

I know how you feel as well I have one and I did not want to admitte it either but it does make it alot better and more so when you are having problem's walking. Now I will say this if I feel ok and feel like i can walk I will park in a regular parking spot and leave the handicap one for some one else but if I have to use it I do.So please don't feel bad about having to use one.
Thanks
Curley......

Hey Missie, I am a step ahead of you, I have the handicap plates on my car. Let me tell you they are a god send for me. Right after I had surgery on both of my knees it was a battle just trying to walk. Even now w/a host of new problems I am grateful for mine.

Hugs, Susie

those plates are good for anywhere in the USA and the stickers also.
