Wow 2 weeks! Nice! Normally they make you wait what seems like FOREVER! All that I have found was good info, mainly studies that quoted his work. I didn't find anything bad, so that is a good sign! :)

This is for 3kidsmom. I am new to this forum and saw your inquiry about dr franco. I saw him in 1998 for RA. I did low dose antiobiotics and have been in remission for 7 years. I think he is excellent, very thorough and offers treatment that is less damaging to your overall health. I have recently been experiencing a flare up and i went to see dr franco last week. I drive from arizona to see him. I trust him and am willing to pay for my visits to see him as my insurance will not cover it(HMO). Anyway, good luck.

Well, I saw dr lelande ? spelling...  He was very nice.  I have nothing "bad" to say about the dr I saw, or the staff... but I thought the place was a bit not fancy.  I guess that's not so important, though.  I mean, I've never been spoken to by a doctor, male or female in any specialty who treated me so kindly.  He was like really kind.  So, I'll be going back despite the drive.  I want to see what they come up with.

CaMama--I think it is worth the drive to see Dr. Franco. I travel 5 hours to see him. In 1997 I began having pain. I saw Dr. Franco in 1998. He put me on low dose minocin. I was on it for about one year and then had to go off it. However, I was in remission for approx. 7and half years. I began having a flare up in march of this year. I saw Dr. Franco beginning of June and just this past thursday he had all my lab values. My RF was 40 and that was the major finding however, I should say that he did a very thorough workup(more than any other Dr ever did). I am on Azithromycin 2 times per week. I pray that it helps because i have been feeling pretty crappy lately. Anyway, I will probably feel worse before I feel better because of the Herxheimer reaction. I would rather try this approach then go on some of the other meds. I will let you know how it is going

3kidsmom--Good luck with everything.

I saw dr franco I only stayed in remission for about 1 year, my experience with him was that the first 2 months they monitored my RA evaluating with the medications that the other rheumatologist was prescribing after that he said I think you are ready to get the antibiotics so I started with doxicicline 3 times a week (he will explain) they warn you you are going to get worst than ever, sure enough I was worse than ever every single part of my body hurt, I was unable to do the most sipliest task, but after that wow you noticed that little by little you would feel better. How long will remain in remission for u do not know.  Also I am educating my self about antibiotics, so check this web site www.knowthecause.com i am understanding that u are what u eat so check it out see
click watch the show and there you check the day you want to see

I would really recommend Dr Franco or Dr Lallande.  When I began seeing then 15 years ago, I could barely walk and couldn't raise my arms over my head.  Now, people don't realize I'm sick unless I tell them!  It took a few years to stabalize but was well worth the wait.  They are always there when I need help and are extremely conscientious.  Both doctors seem to do it  because they really want to help.  They are very aware of the pain and suffering patients experience and are quick to give support that actually helps.  They consider a patient as a whole, and treat with the least amount of prescriptive medicine that will give relief.  Good luck with managing your health!

Suzene, so very very sorry about your experience with this doctor, yes some doctor are out there for money unfortunately, If they could only see past that. I wanted to say Hello to you and that you posted on an older post from back 2011 and these folks that orginally posted this thread are probably not on here anymore.
Would really love to see you start a post about yourself and when you got your RA dx, so that the others on here could Welcome you, this is a very good family website and I hope you can get a better doctor. Did this doctor try you on antibotic therapy if so then surely another doctor would be able to carry on with that treatment if it was working for you, antibotic therapy is an older RA treatment and some of the newer doctors are going back to it to help their patients, so that is always something to ask another doctor about...
Hope you'll start a new thread and introduce yourself many well wishes and I'm so sorry about your experience with this doctor.

I have been a patient of Dr. Franco and Dr. Lellande since July 2012. I LOVE them. They have both changed my life. I have NEVER had such kind doctors or such brilliant doctors before. They put patients as number 1. I'm very sorry to read the thread posted by suzene about their accounting dept and their refusal to see her until her bill was paid. Well...their services are not free and not inexpensive but the office staff has never treated me poorly - they are ALL sweet, responsive and kind. If you are $3000 in arrears on any bill owed to anyone you are going to be turned over to collections but of course you should be able to at least speak to someone in billing about it. I am dismayed to hear this - I wouldn't want someone in grave need of help staying away from their office because of this story. Give them a chance, they are miracle workers. Always make sure your insurance is in network with them and always check once a year to make sure nothing has changed. They recently stopped accepting Blue Shield and they sent letters to their patients who carry Blue Shield to warn them. I am changing insurances in December and I went out of my way to find out what carriers they accept so I can choose a plan that has them in network. My health problems are too complicated to lose them! I'm glad to see maichristensen from their office respond to this thread. And: their office is very nice - I don't know why anyone would say it's "not fancy".
