Dear Friends, I have had cellulitis 4 times and 3 times in one summer. It is a bacterial infection, and it affects the cells in the second layer of skin. The symptoms are;swelling, redness, warmth like you have a high fever in that area. You also can become confused. You have to watch the area it covers because it can become quite serious if allowed to spread. I was in the hospital on 4 antibiotics I.V. before they finally called the infectious disease doctor. When I went home I had to be on I.V.'s for 6 weeks with visiting nurses. After I finally healed up, I had to take antibiotics one week out of every month for 2 years. Since then I have not had any more cellulitis. It happens when you have any type of
opening in your skin where the staff germ can enter your body. It can be as small as a paper cut, or something like athletes foot. I hope this has helped you, I didn't mean to scare you only to caution you to be careful with this disease. If you have any more questions please write back.
