hey there Katina,
i am a skeptic of "arthritis pain relievers" but i found something that helps me out.
my joints were so bad, i had ran out of LidoDerm patches, and Tylenol was not cutting it.  even with pain meds, i needed something extra still.

it's called FLUIDJOINT 5-methyl-2-(1-methylethyl-cyclohexanol)
it's topical ointment and freezes for example your elbows and knees when ya slap it on.
it's supposed to be a penetrating cream for hurting joints; muscle ache; arthritis (unspecified type)
it has a lot of good oils (natural herbs too) in it.
one can find it in most drugstores; price is about $10 to $13
just thought i would share...anything that might help right?
ps:  it's stinky stuff...beware! peee-ewwww tongue

Ah Erin... I would almost rather hurt than smell Ben Gay, lol. I also have a severe chemical sensitivity ailment. I have ailments out the ying-yang skull

Hey I found out I had low vitamin B-12 yesterday. I got a b-12 shot and darn it, it hurt, ha ha ha. Has anyone tried the B-12 patch, or the sublingual B-12? (off topic here but....)

Hi Rj,
The sublingual B12 is THE BEST overall. More absorbed than swallowed tablets/patches.
The B12 injections hurt yeah! It's a deep shot & if not injected deep enough...it burns! OUCH! I had many of pt.s dread their B12's!
I never tried any of the B12's. As far as I know, my levels are okey dokey.
How low were yours Rj? Wow, I hope whatever supplement you take for B12 helps with fatigue & helps ya out a bit.
The FLUIDJOINT has a more "creme de menthe" aroma. Not as funky as BENGAY.
This sensitivity?...is it from smells or from chemicals in products touching your skin? What happens? Rash? Maybe a lot of things don't mix with your heart meds?
So Rj...I guess tattoos are out of the question for ya? LOL. Than again...no better way to break ya in real good for B12 shots than a BIG OL' 4 HOUR TO-DO TATTOO! ;)

Well I may try that thar creme de la menthe.... on me old fanger joints :) Thanks for mentioning  it.

The range of B-12 is really strange. I was peering o'er the doc's shoulder and I saw something like 250-950. Mine was 308 or something. I have bad eyes even with me coke bottle lens on...Anudder ailment..

The chemical sensitivity is brought on by smelling certain chemicals. I don't rightly know the names of the chemicals, but they are in most perfumes, hair sprays, air fresheners and bathroom cleaners etc. The reaction is very strange. Immediately the area behind my nose starts this burning pain that travels to my head. Then it causes me to get angry. Really, anger just pops up until I can get away from the odor. Then I have to get to an antihistamine fast, or have a bad headache until I do. It is really, really strange. It is hard for people to believe. I do love strong vanilla candles though!

Hey, I have 2 tattoos :) and neither hurt as much as that B-12 shot, lol. The hurt lasted until I went to bed.

I believe I have sensed somehow that you are a nurse or torturer. Which is it?.... Ha ha ha

tongue  hah!  number 1 is correct!  and i like to call it "an angel of mercy" not a torturer. LOL.  too funny.

oh i agree, i have 3 tattoos...i napped, ate a sandwhich & did an interview for a documentary while getting a 6 hour tattoo.  it's a biggie (14in X 7in). and you're right, way less painful than some wicked IM injections.  i find tattooing zen-like after a while actually.

that makes a lot of sense, that sensitivity.  many people have the same complaint.  i hear the most with Clorox, Ajax, Aspen for Men,??????hmmmmm, but i know exactly what you mean.  Every person has his own cryptonite I guess!

i get a very angry reaction to my mother's cigarette smoke.  she's not aloud to smoke in the house...but it doesn't matter, it sticks to her clothing and ewwwwww!! so i run away.  {well not run... eyes }  awful...like a wet, old, ash tray. mad

have you had many nurses that were sadists in the past? lol.  awe, i never ever did aanything to hurt a person.  in fact...i was always too gentle sometimes in fear of hurting someone...and that would just drag a process out too long and they'de be uncomfortable anyway. <<sigh>> can't win!

looking forward to going back to work someday. i'm still (trying) continuing my education so i don't feel to out of the loop....but too badly disabled from RA to work. stinks!

you take care & stay away from those anger causing vapors!  erin

sry your are still not sleeping erin sad ..... as far as the smelly spread on your woes stuff (ointments) i avoid them although they at times feel good, i too hate the stink - even if i have an ode to peppermint it is not the same. nono
i agree with Aldo i would hurt over stink yeah i might go out and purchase this "creme de menthe" flavor and try it but i work with the visually impaired and their sence of smell is usually keen where i cant pass much over on them....

I know that you wont believe this, but I'll tell the story anyway. I had an mi and stroke in 2003. I went through the ER and eventually was placed in a room. The cardio comes in and sits down on the bed and says "what can I do for you?". Well, the conversation went down hill from there. I would have fought him, had I had the strength. This was on a Friday afternoon. The cath lab had shut down. I was pumped up with morphine which makes me mean I have found out. The blood test had come back showing I had had an mi. He said that I needed a cath first thing in the morning. I said fine just so it is not you. He said I am the only choice for tomorrow. I said oh crap!

In the cath lab he gave me a shot for numbing my groin and within 5 seconds he stabbed my leg with a knife! I screamed like bloody murder....I have had 7 since then and none have hurt. The last one I had the doc said I had so much scar tissue it would kinda be hard to numb. It smarted a tad but not bad.

The cardio I got as a regular, told me that between me, you, and the wall the guy was nuts!

Hey, you keep that dream and imagination alive about going back to work! Than Zen might help a bit too. I do the meditation thing with yogi :) Sometimes it is all I have for pain control devil .
