Well, i havent been on the board for a few months because i was feeling pretty good.

The nightmare is back :(

Every single part of my body hurts. I cant walk, lift my arms, open doors etc... even the tip of my nose feels like its going to break off.

Sigh i was sure wishing that i had this beat. Im really down at the moment. Im only 33, the idea of having this hell for the rest of my life is sure hard. And how bad is it going to get, if im this bad already.

Thanks for the vent

Hey Morticia, Vent away!  I'm sorry you're feeling so poorly.  We all try to avoid this board when we're doing well--for me, I feel like I'm going to jinx my health if I come here when I'm doing absolutely great.

From my experience, an experienced rheumatologist who's not afraid to use the big guns can put most cases of RA (and similar AI diseases) into remission.  But it takes time.  I was diagnosed 4 years ago; exactly one year ago, my condition seriously worsened.  It's only now that I'm taking 3 DMARDs in addition to pain killers that something is starting to happen.  Hang tough, and think positive.  And don't be afraid to try certain drugs--you can always stop taking them if you don't like the way you feel on them.

Thanks Camino,

The past 3 months i have been lucky the herbs ive been taking were working great. I even stopped taking my MTX. That stuff is posion.

Well herbs arent working anymore, so im back on the MTX. Its not doing anything either. Ive been going through my pain meds like crazy. Im terrified to try the other drugs because they are so bad for you. Hmm live with RA or have a shot liver? Quite the choice we have.

Plus i dont have any insurance and on a very low income so the other meds are not an option.

Im screwed really.

Hi Morticia. I am so sorry to hear about the way you feel. I am new to RA or A, whichever I have. Ihave my 3rd appointment soon with the rheumodude. He is still trying to figure me out. It's like cracking a nut. I'm the nut....

Doesn't the Lortab help? If not that freaks me out. about 3 months ago when I started having the RA symptoms, I had no pain relief except for alcohol, which is a no-no. I was in hell though from pain and finally went to the doc. My da*mn knuckles looked like balloons, so he knew I was in pain and prescribed me some relief. I have since been into some type of remission, I guess. I took oral steroids and have had 2 steroid injections. I still feel the arthritis in my joints though. It's like it is just waiting around to jump on my butt big time. But now I can get help. I waited way too long before I went to a doc.

I am retired and like to try to help fellow sufferers (is that a real word) with chit chat thrown in with maybe a little research on their problems. I get lonesome and need an ear at times. I am a homebody like yourself. I do get out occasionally. Glad to meet you and I hope you will see your doc soon and get relief. I can relate, I think!

Hi there,

Thanks for the reply, im sorry to hear you are going through the hell also. Yes i am on Lortab and MTX and herbs. As this point right now tho, nothing is helping remission period is over. The lortab helps for a couple hours then wears off. And really it just makes me sleepy doesnt take the pain away. But its better then nothing. I havent tried any of the stronger meds yet, like Humira etc.. because of no health insurance and there is no way i couldnt afford them. The herbs im taking worked wonders from march till june. Then wham the RA hit me bad and has been that way since.

We had a very stressful family problem in June, so i think thats what triggered my RA to come back.

So im just plugging along, doing alot of sleeping and meditating. Having the family do lots for me.
Short walks each day to keep myself mobile. Trying to keep positive and live each day as it comes.

Hey Morticia;

Sorry 'bout your troubles. have you ever tried Plaquenil? When I had no insurance, I could still take it 'cause it only cost about 5 bucks a month (60 pills). Takes a long time to work, but might be worth a shot for you. Take care.
-SLE, RA & PA....it's all about the acronyms!

-Current meds: Plaquenil, Sulfasalazine, and a little NSAID du jour for flavouring. Mmmmm NSAIDs.
