I have plantar fasciitis. I haven't experienced any pain or discomfort in quite awhile. Holy moly, the past couple of days, they feel like they're on fire. I've been stretching my legs and heels to help ease it, but it's not working. We've been experiencing some abnormally cold (like everyone else) temps around here and I'm wondering if that might have something to do with this. It seems they started to 'sing' a couple of days ago.

It hurts if I wear or don't wear shoes and they even hurt when I wear my birks... eyes

Anyone have any ideas to help ease the fire? Thanks...

Aww Starrnr, I'm sorry it's acting up again, quite a painful experience to be sure.  When mine acts up the only exercise that helps is the calf stretching, the one where you stand against the wall with one leg straight and one bent.  My physical therapist told me to get a deeper stretch with this exercise is to raise the big toe off the floor of the calf you are stretching.  It's a huge difference!  Hope it gets better soon.  Have you tried alternating ice and heat?  That's sometimes helps me too.  Good luck!

I've been using the towel, the wall, a chair, anything to get it them to stop hurting. Very strange for them to start acting up all of a sudden since my AS is under control (well, it was anyway). Hopefully something will kick in and my heels will stop hurting. Thanks for the suggestions -- seems we all have the same tricks!

Hey there... I found this in my travels.. I tried the marble thing.. and I got a cramp! LOL but it may work for you!

To strengthen muscles, do towel curls and marble pick ups. Place a towel on a smooth surface, place the foot on the towel, and pull the towel toward the body by curling up the toes. Or, put a few marbles on the floor near a cup. Keep the heel on the floor and use the toes to pick up the marbles and drop them in the cup.

Another exercise is toe taps. Keep the heel on the floor and lift all of the toes off the floor. Tap only the big toe to the floor while keeping the outside four toes in the air. Next, keep the big toe in the air and tap the other four toes to the floor.

Hey Ducky...thanks for the tips. I had to chuckle about the cramp with the marble, that sounds like something that would happen to me! I'll try it (them) and see what happens. Hope you're doing well.

Thanks!
