hey guys, i have noticed just this past week how painful it is for me to reach into my dryer, turn off my alarm clock, getting dressed, or putting on my coat etc..  my shoulder has just been aching tons only left side- not both.

well this morning when i tried to turn off the alarm it hurt so bad i did a range of motion test on my left shoulder and noted a Significant loss in abduction. thats lifting my arm up outward from the side. i can flex normally? straight in front but not abduct.  and now after trying so hard my forearm is in a tizzy..... but this all happened fast not gradual?

my next appointment isnt til mid march. should i phone him sooner or not.  i didnt phone when i noticed the tasks were painful.  kept thinking it would go away.  now with noted decrease in ROM i am confused.

has this happened to anyone else?

i dont have OA to my knowledge ?

any input Greatly appreciated.  hugs yalinda

Hey girl.. you know, I KNOW I replied to this thread this morning and now it's not here.. hhhmm tha's a mystery... anyways - YES you need to call your doc and tell them.. if anything, maybe he can do a phone consult? Or send you to a Physical Therapist? How are you doing today?

Sounds like a tear in the rotator cuff. You might be able to get your GP to take a look at this. It could also be related to disc issues so I would contact your doc soon and not wait to see if it is going to go away.

sad  aaahBOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! sad pooey! man does that STINK!
what it sounds like to me??????? it sounds as though you injured your shoulder joint.
this might be from "injury" like overuse.  like you mos tlikely already know...with RA there is a higher than norm risk of joint injury from normal activity.   So you might have done a household task and pehaps did an "overuse" joint injury that made it flare up.

a film of the that area wouldn't be a bad idea...like the above mentioned rotator injury...or muscle/tendon/ligament.

especially since you really REALLY don't wanna go on pred...if i were your doc, i would have suggested a film to look at the area first before just pawning you off on prenisone (which i'm finding is an easy-way-out-answer for docs nowadays)
oy!  i know you must be P.O.d about this

That's great.. you may have figured out the culprit! Call your doc and see what they say about stopping the prednisone.. how much have you taken so far?
