Moanin' all! Sorry to hear all that is wrong! We've been having that bipolar weather again - rain storms, followed by decent weather, followed by cold rain storms again....so, what does that mean? I'm sick again. sad   Right now, it's just a really sore throat with congestion in nose and ears and some joint pain....hopefully it'll ALL pass. We're still in a giant mess with the plumbing, but at least there's water! Right?

Yalinda, so glad to hear there is improvement. Erin are the knees any better? Ducky are you still in flare mode? Okay, speaking of, my fingers hurt so I won't go replying to everyone. How are you all?

Hey Ducky. Good to hear from you.

A lot of rain lately....very unusual. I'm in flu mode and have been sleeping most of the last few days. This also means I haven't been taking my meds....not good in the wet weather. Hubby went and got me some mucinex-D this afternoon. Doc always tells me to try it, so I finally am.

Yalinda -I'm SO sorry about your fall!! UGH and OW! I hope you recover from that soon.

Erin, how long til they tell you what your pee says? :-)

Well, I've slept the day away and need to try and get a few things taken care of before the contractors come back tomorrow. Take care all.

Planes, trains and automobiles?  Lots or travelin' there girl!  And I won't address the pee (Pea) issue.  Just kidding.  Getting caught up on posts.  Been helping my daughter with baby.  She's not getting enough rest and has mastitis now.  She's so miserable.  I stayed a couple of nights (driving an hour to go to work then going back after).  I'm pooped.  I stayed home last night.  May go back tonight.

Just wanted to touch base.  Here's to a great and restful weekend.  Boo

I'm told mastitis is worse than childbirth. My dauther at 4 weeks old had it. Poor baby! I hope your daughter gets better soon!

Still have the flu, but getting better. Sounds like (so far) I'm lucky compared to most around here. Hopefully, that keeps being the case. I think I've done my time with being sick (knock on wood!) Pulled out some cough syrup with codine for me last night (from flu/ear/sinus/lung infection last year) and taking the mucinex-d during the day.

Erin, you are too funny!

I'm back everyone!  And boy, do I feel rough today.  got a little cold on top of whatever else is the heck wrong with me.  Temperature keeps spiking and I've been getting chills off and on all day.  I'm still having trouble believing that I may have tb?  And judging from the drug regimen that I'll start tomorrow, the ID doc is treating as an active case of TB, not a latent tb.  Perhaps she's doing that, though, because I'm immunosuppressed.  I've been reading too much about the combined hepatotoxicity problems with these drugs and I'm more than a little nervous about taking them.  Can drug-induced hepatitis be reversed once you stop the drug?  Doctor is going to monitor my liver closely for a while, so there would certainly be a chance to catch hepatitis early, but I don't want to suffer permanent liver damage.

You know, I was crying to my husband last night (granted I'm sick right now and a bit overly tired and hormonal :)) that the one thing I'm most afraid of is friends and family finding out that I'm being treated for tb.  They don't understand the distinction between latent and active tb, and I'm terrified that if they found out they would completely freak and treat me like a pariah!  And then I wonder what the pharmacist thinks, and how my rheumy is going to act when I go to see him in a couple of weeks.  And then, when someone in my office or carpool, etc..., starts coughing I automatically start thinking--did I cause that?  I know that I didn't--both ID doc and tb nurse said I'm NOT contagious.  Husband said to heck with what everyone else thinks, and he's right, but jeez, I'm really starting to sympathize with people who find themselves carrying a highly contagious germ.

Enough venting--I'm off work now--going home and going to bed.  AFter I hug my girls and play some jazz with husband and friend (we started a little jazz band).

kewl el, about the jazz band that is .... what do u play? that should get ur mind off ur woes. i feel for u and all ur thoughts. gosh i always wonder what the pharmacist thinks of meds i pick up? plus the tec is my pastors wife! but the next closest pharm is my daughters boyfriends mom so no matter where i go someone knows me. ur hubby is right dont worry about what others dont know or understand. educate themig they know and seem different. if it were active all friends, coworkers, and family would have been notified by cdc for testing.

i'd be a bit leary of the drugs too but ur id doc seems to know well her stuff so trust and ask all questions.
good luck i will be thinking of u! yalin

El, so sorry about the TB stuff. After my many years in the medical field I tested + for latent TB. No telling how may times I've been in a closed room with someone who had it. Haven't had to take the meds for it as it's encapsulated somewhere in my body but not in the lungs. Yea, peeps freak! We have the BEST infection control department in the world in that hospital. Still, I never talk about it. The masses panic.
Rough night last night. Had to resort to the Ambien. Pains shooting through my hands and feet and would not stop.
Does anyone have problems with spouse/significant other complaining cuz you're not as fun as you used to be? Boo

Moanin' Ladies.. I say ladies.. 'cause I haven't seen our Gentlemen here lately.. Well, our Craig did post the other day.. Ok, I stand corrected.. nono

Seems as though we have all had a rough go of it lately huh?  mad

CaMama - How is the Mucinex helping?  Any better?

Erin - How's the knees babe?

Yalinda - Wow.. guess you're stuck huh?  How are you feeling?  Any better?  You didn't over-do it with your kitchen project did you?

El - Oh boy.. it is rough isn't it?  But you're right and your hubby is right.. it really doesn't matter what other people think.. and like Yalinda said, you can help educate people so they know.. When people don't know, they tend to err on the side of caution and a lot of times that leads them to making ignorant decisions/comments.. Hang in there girl.. I know it is going to be a long road, but you'll make it.. I know you will.. and you've got us and a WONDERFUL husband that will keep your chin up, when you feel it fall!  tongue You let me know if anyone gives you a hard time, and I will be there for you!  I promise!  Oh, and the band!  How awesome is that?  You never told us about this, SHAME ON YOU! LOL... If you get all famous, don't forget us little people!  cool   What is the name of your band?

Boo - Uh-oh.. spouses or s/o complaining about issues... you know, at first, when I first started having problems and was un-diagnosed, hubby used to make comments.. not really bad comments, but not really good ones either.. enough to let me know... then I got diagnosed and it was a little better (his understanding) 'cause we could put a name to the issue.. but then, I would still get comments... It hasn't been as bad lately 'cause I think he sees that I do try, but there are days, that I just can't... It is hard for them to understand especially when they don't suffer from anything like we do... they don't see how much driving an hour stiffens our bodies up and it takes a while to loosen back up.. Or how hard gardening can be on our backs and legs, even when we used to do it for hours before... hang in there Boo.. we hear ya, we love ya and we understand... smurf

Me... well, the tree pollen is REALLY bad here right now... my nice Silver Tahoe looks GREEN.... yuck... but it's all over and my allergies are kickin'.. which has triggered a flare... woo-hoo! eyes But I am trudging through it 'cause the weather was nice yesterday, and I wasn't going to let that go... but now, it's cold again, and I hurt... sad Oh well.. I'll sit under a nice warm blanket today with my puppy and make some nice tea... that should do the trick... I love lazy weekends!

Hope all is well with everyone... Here's to a wonderful, relaxing and "relatively" pain free Saturday! yeah

Bio-spira. that's the name of our new band! 'Tis fun. I'm studying jazz improv with a guy who teaches bass and piano (my husband has studied bass with him before)--I play piano. Our band has a bass player (hubbie), guitarist (friend), and pianist (me). We need a drummer though. Any takers? this morning we found an organ on the side of the road with a big free sign on it. Husband grabbed it--it's in our basement. It brings back lots of memories. When I was a kid, I wanted to play piano so bad, but my parents couldn't afford one, nor could they afford lessons. So I used to go do my Aunt's house and play her kimball organ for hours on end. This is the same organ. And it came with lots of sheet music for children, so my girls are all set.

Feeling much better today. cold is better and I got some sleep last night. Can't start my drugs for the tb until Tuesday, as my pharmacist had to special order a couple and one of them didn't come in yet. I figure it will take at least a month for the enbrel to work out of my system, so I'm ok for the time being. I hope the mtx and the plaquenil can hold me; I'm sure that's why rheumy wanted to leave me on the mtx--because of the rebound arthritis.

My husband bought me a 29 gallon aquarium for my b-day (it was february 22nd)! I'm planning on starting a salt water tank ($$$$$$). It is expensive, but I'm collecting the equipment just a bit at a time to lessen the financial impact. I think I'm getting close to setting it up, though. Sal***er fish are are beautiful, and I find aquariums very therapeutic. I highly recommend them. I also have a small 2.5 gallon aquarium with freshwater fish in my office.

Get fish!
And have a great weekend!
