My husband has been having pain and stiffness in his hands (mostly at the base of the index finger and thumb) and somewhat in his feet for about 4 weeks now. Its been hell. He has been depressed and anxious fearing RA. His primary doctor did some inflammtion tests and they were all negative (esr, wbc, rf). The pain persisted so we went to a rhematologist (one week ago). He examined him and said there is no way it is any form of arthritis. This was a relief BUT the pain keeps getting worse.
There is no apparent swelling, but the pain is bad, its symmetrical, and he also has flu symptoms (tho no fever). He has some night sweats and chills.  We are trying to take it day by day, taking nsaids, eating healthy, ice packs, glucosamine, fish oils etc... but the pain is getting worse daily.
Can anyone give any advice, share any similar stories good or bad, or anything???
I don't know what else to do. He can't work bc his job is in computers. And his life is being active in working out and stuff!
Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!  sad

I have found something that has changed my life. I had chronic back pain, arthritis and inflammation in my knees and I started taking Monavie. Within a week I stopped taking my pain killers and now I am pain free. My mother has RA and she is seeing incredible results with this. I am sleeping better at night and have more energy all day long. It is made from 19 natural fruits and great for the body. Two ounces is equal to 5 servings of fruit. They are amazing! It also helps with Crohn's and ulcerative colitis because it helps with the inflammation.  Michael

well if the rheumy said no RA then you might want to listen to that but you might seek a second opinion.

I would go back to the primary and let the doc know EXACTLY how he feels.
