Good Moaning everyone, smurf Well for the past few weeks i have been reading about all of you that suffer with insomnia, and was thinking, ahh those poor people,i'm glad that I can slways sleep. Last nite I joined your little " Ican't sleep "club. Today starts my second week of prednisone. Talk about miserable. No it couldn't happen on a weekend nite, it had to happen on a work nite! On top of the insomnia, my left shoulder got to hurting so bad, that i couldn't even lay there in bed to just relax. Had to get up and pry the ibuprophen lid off and hit it. Still can't move the shoulder with out terrific pain. That brings me to the question, why sometimes just one side of something hurts horid, and the other fine. When i read about RA, it says that usually pain mimics on both sides of the body at same time, i so far have not found this to be true. How bout the rest of you. I thank God its not both sides at once or i would not be able to do anything to help myself at all on bad days. Take care,Joy

Hi Joy! Has your insomnia lessened yet? I sure hope so! Insomnia stinks...prednisone makes it worse, because (at least for me) I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOO tired and just want to sleep sooooo bad, but my body is just pumping with the jitters. UGH!

Here's to peaceful slumber! smurf

Kibbles I had insomnia when I first started the prednison. I then got control of it by taking the prednison only first thing in the morning and then taking an overt the counter sleep aid one hour befor I went to bed. This helped me get on track. There is nothing worse than trying to sleep because you have to work the next day or know you have to do something. I also read when all else fails. I hope this does not become a regular thing. I hate the shoulder pain that is the worst. I can tolerate any other part hurting. Hope you sleep like a baby tonight.

Yes, i got over the insomnia (knock on wood). I found that if i am not falling asleep, i can take a melatonin (natural sleep aide) and that seems to do the trick. I just started MTX and so far no ill effects. My hand joints and ankles still ache pretty good, but i hope that it too will ease up. Take care , Kibles

Hi Kibble. I am glad the melatonin works for you. I tried it because I wanted a safe drug alternative but it made me very depressed. I don't know why but I think it is an adverse reaction. I am so glad you are getting some sleep. I think the MTX took a long time to work for me. It never did the full job so now I am on the Enbrel and the combo is much better.
