Pain on left side of chest.

The other night I woke up with pain in my chest on the left side,The pain was still there yesterday,Last night the pain got so bad I thought I was having a heart attack.After a few minutes which seemed like forever,the pain eased up some.When I tryed to sleep, I had to lay flat on my back,which the pain was there but not near as bad as when I layed on my side's or my stomach.The pain is still there but not as bad as last night,but when I cough,yawn,it hurt's so bad.Could it be arthrits in my chest maybe?

I have Costochondritis (chest inflammation). It can be quite frieghtening. The pain is sharp unlike the crushing, heavy pain of a typical HA. I really don't know. I have been to check it out many times and that is the diagnosis. My husband had an accident that cracked his sternum and has had this pain also. Once after he was out golfing he had the pain and sweating, Long story but he did end up having a HA at 46. I think you have to check it out with your doctor because you just don't know. I had an attack last night and went this morning to see the Doc. The jittery feeling I am getting from the Prednisone made me feel that it might be more than chest inflammation. I do have some pain esp. in my cervical spine. My BP has increased and the Doc. wants me increase my meds. I have lost 8 lbs. and I am not retaining fluid. She does know what is causing my BP to rise other than the Prednisone. I did initially call my Rheumy but he wasn't available to talk until tonight, and he still didn't call me.

Are you having other symptoms? I had the sweating, shortness of breathe, I did have the crushing feeling, severe fatigue to where I was unable to walk. I did go to the ER but they brushed me off said just to double up on my pain meds..but I couldn't do that because my liver levels were very high. I literally suffered. So I waited till my next apptointment with my Rhuemy thinking I wasn't that bad and boy did I get a surprise...Pluerisy, Pericarditis, Myositis on the heart..all in a very short period of time..I really thought it was all caused from my meds..boy was I wrong it was all caused from RA. So please be careful and get it checked reguardless..
