I, too, have slightly swollen wrists right now.  they don't look too bad, but they're very hot and they hurt like heck.  I think it's always important to have a rheumatologist look at any swollen joint.  My rheumy told me that the swelling, whether it's accompanied by pain or not, is what actually destroys the joint.

I also have swollen wrists most of the time. They seem better now I am on Enbrel. I worry about damage but I don't think it happens overnight. Are you on medication?

hi gill,

awe...so sorry.  i hate wrist pain & swelling.

have you been applying some cool packs or ice packs gently to your wrists at all?  that may help some edema subside.

definitely do not wear a watch!

my wrists are not swollen all of the time...but i can tell when they are, it ain't pretty that's for sure.

hmmm? June???  well, i hope May goes by real fast so you can see your doc.

the swelling just might be a part of the RA...an unfortunate part, but perhaps they can find a way to ease it.

the RA nodules are proably a BIG PART of why they are swollen.

((((((((((hugs))))))))) we're all in the boat with ya!
peace/love

Hi Gill....I was on sulfasalazine for about a year. I changed doctors and he took me off of it as it was not protecting my joints and I was developing nodules. I had three on my wrist that kept me from writing. He said the nodules are indicators of more aggressive disease. He switched me to the Enbrel, boy was that a hard decision for me. now the nodules have reduced by about 90 percent. I can hardly see them and I can write again. I was also getting bone deteriorations in my feet. We will see how they are doing in a month or so.
