The doctor is looking into starting me on Rituxin but I am highly doubting the insurance company will pull through on this one especially since they declined the Remicade.  Seems I am just getting worse.  They are also using methylprednisilone 8mg daily as they feel this will help more than the prednisone alone.  Staying on the methotrexate, arava, and steroid for now.  Anyway that is where I stand.  1 full year and NOWHERE.  How do I know we are treating the right thing?

Hi Bloo...what is the common name for Rituxin? I don't know anything about it. I really feel for you about wondering if the right thing is being treated. I have also struggled with treatment and there are days I am not sure I have RA. I often wonder if they are missing something else because the treatments that seem to be helping other people don't work for me. The Enbrel may be working we will see in another month or so. Sending you healing}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Rituxan is how it is spelled and actually this is the Name... common name is Rituximab. It was approved for RA in 2006. All you do is get an infusion then repeat the infusion in 2 weeks and relief if sought can last up to 6 months with no more injections until then. I watched the DVD they gave me and then read about it on the site and it seems a bit scarey to me with high than normal rates of serious side effects and death.... so I am a bit nervous about it.... but it seems it is an all or none response.... in that you get complete relief or it isn't working....

I hope the Enbrel does work for you.... if I don't get approved for the Rituxan then I am going to go on Humira.
