Hey everyone! Ok..i've been on the pred for about 3 months now, and mtx for 2 months. The mtx was just doubled to 20mg a week last week. i was doing pretty good for awhile, but now this very deep ache is creeping up from both hands ,up my arms to my elbows. Doesn't seem to be swelling, just this deep dull ache my whole self feels kinda heavy and sore.Definately bone ache, not muscle feeling. Whats up? Am I becomming immune to the meds all of a sudden? i just want to let my hands and arms and shoulders hang loose and not move at all. Its weird and scarey at the same time. I dont go back to rheumy till the end of the month. Dexa scan on the 22nd of this month. I know if it gets bad i will call right away, but what do you all think. i really value your opinions and all of your kind words too:) Some times i read on here and cry. Other times i read stuff on here and just crack up. Your all great!! Thank you!! Joy

Hey Joy... How's today? You may be in a flare. or the RA may be progressing, and that's why you aren't getting any relief... Has your rheumy talked with you about biologics? It may be your next step.. By the end of the month, do you mean June? That is a long time to wait if so.. I would go in sooner if you don't feel better after this next week..

I'm glad you find comfort in this site, we are a crazy bunch! Take good care..

Hi Duck,Yes my next appt. with the rheumy is at the end of June. She wanted me on this double dose of mtx for a month. Then she was talking about starting me on a biologic modifier like Remicade or Enbrel or something.
So the pain i'm having now could be a flare, but just not like the ones i've had in the past? The flares i did have prior to this were very bad swelling, and extreme pain in my hands and arms. This is just the dull ache i was talking about. Maybe the meds have it kinda under control so it's not so bad? I deffinately will go in if it gets bad before my appt. for sure. Today is just the sencond week of the 20mg of mtx, so i guess it needs time to really kick in. Thanks a bunch for getting back to me so quick. Enjojy your day, Joy

 Hey there kibbles,

like duck said its not that ur immuined to the medication its that most likely its progressing.
Take me for example i was on mtx, prednisone, and naproxen for 8 yrs and i was great. there was times when i completly for got that i had RA. Then recently those meds just werent cutting it any more. My doc talked about going on enbrel or remicade, needless to say i was scared to death. after trying diffrent kind of oral meds that would only work for about 1 month (sulfasalazine+plaquanile). I finally gave in after 1 year and went on remicade i just had my 3rd infusion and man do i feel better a lot better i only wish that i had the courage earlier to go on the remicade a year ago, but no regrets at least now i know that the remicade truly was one of the last resorts for my condition and i wont be wondering what IF. Well kibbles that my story hope that it helped you in some way. and GOOD LUCK

Thanks Sandie, I agree, it's pretty scarey to take all these meds. I really want to go over everything with my rheumy when she decides to change the meds I'm on, or add to them. Cancer scares me the most . I just lost my sis-in-law 4 months ago to cancer, she was only 10 yrs older than me. She was on all kinds of meds. I'm not sure about the lesser of two evils, but i do remember how much pain i was in prior to prednisone!
WOW! Don't wanna go there again. I'm surprised I didn't wear a hole in my carpet from all the paceing i did while suffering! Take care, Joy
