You know.. Little Miss Yalinda, is one smart cookie.. she asked if we could start a thread like our recipe thread about activities that we do with our kids and arthritis.. yeah

So what do you do?  We all hear it from our kids.. "Mommy, come play with me!"  And what do we say?  "In a minute baby, mommy's hands hurt.." OR "Daddy, come throw the ball with me!"  And what do our lovely little kids hear in return?  "Not right now, my shoulder hurts."  sad

There has to be something that we can do.. no matter how small it is.. something that we can do to stay active with our kids.. even if it's something crafty.. quality time with family is the important thing here.. and if we can achieve it and not aggrevate our conditions, then AWESOME!  :-)

And this is open to parents of all ages with kids of all ages.. what do you do?  cool

Ok, I'll go first.. When I can and my knees aren't acting up.. we bike ride.. If I am having a "not so active day" we watch movies in our living room and order pizza.. The kids love this 'cause we're not allowed to have food in the living room.. So we get to sit and watch movies as a family AND have pizza! Woo-hoo! Even if it's something we've all seen, it is great to just spend that time together.. Or family game nights.. those are always fun too.. Sometimes I forgot I am 30something, and I'll go out on the trampoline with the kiddies too.. Now that is some funny stuff to see.. especially if we have the sprinkler on underneath! tee hee hee..

Who's next?

That sounds like a lot of fun, Ducky. What a great idea!

I guess I try to modify whatever I can with the kids that they want to do or get them interested in something else  that isn't so painful. (what a bum, I know!) The kids pretty much rely on Dad to do the physical activity stuff and me for the more sedintary, otherwise, I'll take them where they can ride or run around and have fun w/me just watching or mildly getting involved.

Hey Melissa.. what does your little boy like to do? Does he like to color? Legos? What about painting? I know sometimes, holding a paint brush hurts.. but what you can do, is take some of HUGE post-it note pads, the big ones that fit on an easel (you can get them at office supply stores and Sam's club) and get some kid friendly paint. and have a BALL.. go outside and let your son get his hands in the paint or feet and make you a work of art! Not too hard on you, he'll enjoy making "art".. and you'll have a momento for a long time to come! Good luck.. anyone else have any ideas?
