Hi there,

Welcome to the forum, this is such a great place..hope you find it to be as much help as I have.   When do you see the rhuemy?I don't have the spine issues, I ws diagnosed with RA in April, not sure if all the tests, etc are the same or not. As for me, the doc started with blood tests, exams, history, etc, then I went back in 2 weeks to go over results and a diagnosis, and to decide on a treatment plan. It will take time, think the best advice I ever got was to ask questions, get educated and be patient...patience is the toughest part for me!  But, we're all here for you..so post anytime..

Take care,

Jody

HEY JODY!
Thanks so much for responding. I amd 30 yrs old with 2 small children. I've been sick for about 5 years, since i had my first child. Since my mom and aunt both have ms they originally thought it might be that but all tests were normal. I was then told that I had chronic fatigue syndrome, fibro and hashimoto thyroiditis at the same time being told that, basically, I was crazy and should see a physichiatrist(sp) Anyway, i just had an x ray of my spine and was told it looked like arthritis, then bloodwork came back with positive Ra facor. Oh, and i was put on prednisone and the pain was gone, i heard that if you have fibro the prednisone wouldn't make that much of a difference. So that's basically my story. the only problem is that my rheumy appt isn't until jan. Not really sure what to do till then. I agree with you though, patience is my biggest problem and the guilt i feel every time I get really sick and look at my babies wondering how I am going to take care of them. One specific question, do you have a horrible time right before your menstral cycle? Hopr to here from you soon, thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi and welcome melaniemac, wow you have to wait til january? omgosh that is only 3 months. it sounds like 10 to me! where did my summer go? oh well sorry to hear you have RA but glad you have found us here on HW. we are a fun and crazy group of peps who help each other get through the ups and downs of arthritis. my kidos are growing up quickly so i dont have little ones any longer to take care of and i dont envy those on this thread who still do as i cnat imagine how i would do it!
as for the menstral question i cant answer it as i am one of the lucky ones who never had issues or pain before during and after. i might think the imflammation might have a greater effect if you are retaining water?
good luck and welcome! yalinda

yalinda,
thanks for the welcome and words of encouragement, hopefully soon I'll be able to give encouragement instead of only asking questions. The water retention thing makes sense though. Pretty soon I'll be able to recognize my own triggers and act accordingly. Hope all is well with you and thanks again!
