Just began the drug arthotec today.  Pain from bursitis in the hips and spinal stenosis in lower back is excruciating.  Try not to complain too much to my family and friends, as I know they can not relate, none of them have what I have.  Also, they are burdened with me enough as it is.  I still do a lot, but I can not do what I used to.  Was and am still contemplating going to enbrel, but wanted to attempt to add an antiinflammatory to my regimen of meds and hoping that, along with the physical therapy I am presently taking, I may be able to put off the enbrel for a while.  Have been research enbrel and a little afraid of the side effects.  Yet, willing to try it if nothing else give me some relief form this constant and terrible pain.

Appreciate any information about how arthotec may have effected you.  Of course, I researched it and read all the literature I was given on it.  Nothing like talking to someone who has actually experienced it.  Thank you for any information you are willing to share.  God Bless!

dear mary,
arthrotec was wonderful as an nsaid for my RA joint pain.  i had no success with any nsaid (and i had all of them); but arthrotec was the ONLY one that ever worked.  on it, i needed no other pain med not even narcotics.
but...i had trouble with arthrotec.
doesn't mean you will for there are soooooooo many people who can take it w/ no problems.

arthrotec caused me very significant bleeding (vaginal or from the urethra i don't know)...but i was constantly bleeding all of the time, not only just when urinating.
so it either caused me to bleed from my kidneys, bladdder or it caused my uterus to hemmorrhage.  in any case i did have to stop the drug & i did have to go to the hospital for it.
the bleeding started about 3 days into the med. i took it 3 times a day.

also it caused terrific "contractions"? or kidney spasms i don't know what they were, but they were severe.
docs believe it is the misoprostol element in the arhtortec taht caused this....something i just can't seem to take.

regualr Dicofenac (the other part of arthrotec) i took and it caused NO side efefects...but, it did nothing for my joint pain.

it may be i'm just allergic to arthrotec and that's why it caused the severe bleeding, or i cannot tolerate it.

but...it DID work as a pain killer & i was very sad that those things hapened because it was the only med that ever hakpehelpeed the joint pain besides steroieds.

give it a try...good luck!  don't let my horror story scare you, it's prbably rare for that o happen.

sorry for my typing...hands are bad.
best wishes!
