Hello, I am 20 yrs. old currently awaiting test results to see if i have Reactive arthritis ( Reiter's syndrome) My blood work resulted in a + ANA, a normal Sed. rate, and all of my blood counts seemed to be normal. I am very concerned and slightly confused, I do not appear to have any sweeling in my joints, but until recently ( these started in september) noted pain in both feet (mornings opon standing) Achilles tendons, anterior ankle, painful shins, tight calves, knee stiffness (slight locking) short lived quite painful lower back. I also would have random wrist, elbow, finger and toe pain. The symptoms got worse over the course of 2 or so weeks and lasted for about a month but not have subsided into mild stiffness, slight morning pain lasting only a little while, or no pain at all and normality, but i have recently been seeing Raynaud's phenomenon in random fingers and toes. Other than that, ive been feeling very well, Back in July i had a urinary problem thought to be chlamydia, was given doxycycline and it seemed to clear up (however i did not follow prescription as i should and took all but 5 pills) I had a short bout of diarrhea about a week or so before joint pain symptoms. I guess im trying to calm my fears about what the underlying reasing for the ReA is. I spend a fair ammount of time out doors, i eat my steaks pretty rare ;) and also spend a great deal of time in the hospital and ambulance setting ( around lots of sick people).

The other reason i am baffled is that i don't really have any problems with my eyes, and besides back in july, have no real urinary issues that i can tell... Can some one help me out?

Hi there,
Just wanted to welcome you and to say hang in there! How soon do you get your results? I now how hard it is to wait these things out, it's scary when you don't kow what's going on in your own body
I'm not sure about your particular issues, I have RA, but there are so many people on this forum with lots of good info, I;m sure someone will come along and answer your questions
Take care,

I should have them by tommarow, if not then monday. One positive thing is that it seems that whatever it is, seems be be flairing down and i am able to move without pain. Thanks for the welcome, these forums have already been a big help to me, Hopefully some others with Reactive arthritis can shed some light if that is what i have.

Hi paramedman!

Reactive arthritis is one of the family of spondylitis diseases. I have Ankylosing Spondylitis which is also a spondylitis disease. There is wonderful information about these diseases on the Spondylitis Association of America website.  I have linked their name to their website so you can learn a little more about them. On the header on their home page is a link to "about Spondylitis"...that's where you need to go.

hi again,
so glad some people were able come on and say hello! Sounds like Ides had some good info for you. Also, if you look under the thread started by "whippetmom" there is a post by "exitwound" that has some info about the issues you were asking about. Have you seen it?
Another thought I had, if you haven't checked it out yet, Mayo Clinic has a great web site with lots and lots of information about many different topics. It's a great resource.
Take care
