Hi - new to this - wondering if anyone has had their bones fused in their feet.  Have RA and Lupus for 20 years.  Already had 2 lots of major surgery but the deformities are so yuk now that they are going to shorten the bones, put wire through the toes and fuse the joints.  Then I should be pain free.  So they say.  Already have pins in and bits cut out and this is the final surgery.  Anyone out there who has had this surgery?

Thanku. Am getting myself in a pickle about this now - never thought it would be happening at my age. Just dunno how long it will take me to recover or how long before I will be able to walk again. Sounds stupid but the fact I will never be able to wear heels/girl shoes again in my life really bothers me, aside from the pain and everything else that goes with this surgery. I know - really stupid in the bigger picture but thats how I feel. Know that people have far worse problems but I have been under the knife 10 times already and I'm getting real tired now of how useless my body is at times. Oh well. If anyone has had this done can they tell me how they managed after it was done. Thanks.

Never had it done but sure would think this would take care of many of my feet issues. I had at once thought about what if they made these bones so they didn't bend or try to bend.... huh... luckily right now I don't have to think about it too much. The Rituxan infusions have really made things much better for me.... maybe they would be able to find something out there that might work for you so that you can still wear heels if you wanted to.
