Hi All!

I usually post on the anxiety forum bc...well I have anxiety, panic and PTSD (so they say) tongue Anyway, My Dr. suggested Seroquel, as a major issue for me is insomnia.  I opted for Lexapro while trying to ween off Konoopin which I have been on for over a year straight.  I am doing better but my sleep is still not so good.  Like I am half asleep/awake 50% of the time and have very vivid sometimes very bad dreems (this is not new or an affect of meds, have had the dreams my whole life)

Just curious on Seroquel exp?  I mean at low doses 12.5 to 25mgs for sleep, I read some where is is like heavy duty valium, which would be great.

Thanks!

I take 100mgs in the morning, 100 mgs in the evening and 400mgs at bedtime. I sleep good but it can cause some crazy dreams.

Hi you two.
Those are pretty high doses, Lost, and you wouldn't take them just for sleep. Sleep doses are usually like you wrote, Badgenetics. I'm not on it now, but when I took 25 for sleep/anxiety it worked well. You need to be careful because it can make you sleepy into the next day. Some people take it early in the evening so they're not so sleepy the next day.

I know I take it for other reasons, along with sleep.

I must have a high tolerance to Seroquel...
The amount i take is huge compared to everyone else..
100mg at noon
1000mg at night
Side effects are don't dream and a little lethargic in the morning
After a Shower and some coffee, I'm good to go..

Simon1975, HAHA! Love your tag line, made me laugh out loud!

Anyhoo...Hopefully I won't sleep that long!
Joxter, good to here it does not affect you during the day too much, My Dr. Said there is a huge dosing range. I would actually like to not dream...my dreams are usually pretty bothersome.

Badgenetics- Glad it made you laugh to it was in a film i saw over easter think it was airplane or top secret-cracked me the hell up.

The dosing range must me imense then as i have tried LOTS of meds and nothing has knocked me out cold like that before-i like to think iican handle my drugs ha ha ha-could be that i hadnt slept for more than 2 hours at a time foe the past couple weeks though who knows.

I feel pretty good today though and not in the way i do when i can feel a bit of hypo coming....dare i say it i feel normal.

I take 200mg at night along with 3mg of Lunesta.  I get ok sleep but am sometimes lethargic the next day if I don't sleep long enough.

Hi everyone.  I'm new to this chat, but have been bipolar 2 for 10 years.  I've been on seroquel for most of them, and currently take 100mg every evening for sleep.  If I don't sleep, my bipolar acts up by taking me into a down spiraling depression.  If I don't get my 8 hours of sleep with my seroquel, I have a bad headache the next morning and it's hard for me to get undroggy.  Also, for those of you new to seroquel, it has the extra effect of helping to keep depression away.  For that reason alone, never stop your medicines..

Hi everyone.  My bipolar disorder has been under control for the past year and a half.  I take Triliptal, Lamictal, and Seroquel to try and keep myself stable.

This past August I had some really serious surgery (had my colon removed) and slowly but surely, my depression has crept back upon me.  My body image has changed alot over the past months, inside and outside, and I've been hurting alot.  I keep all of my feelings and frustrations bottled up inside until I can't handle anymore, and then I make an appointment with my counselor.  I am very thankful for him, because he's intermittently helped me (and my family) with alot since I was diagnosed with bipolar years ago.

I try to read positive affirmations over the internet and do breathing excercises to calm myself, but it's hard to make them work when you can't concentrate and feel like you're bottoming out.  Unfortunately, I don't have many people that I can talk to about my feelings and mental health.  Mostly, my counselor and my husband.  Sometimes, it's difficult to explain serious depression to someone if they haven't gone thru it, even though they live with you and can see it in your eyes that you're hurting.

I'm happy to meet each and every one of you and hope that you are able to enjoy some part of your life right now, and have some kind of support system.  Bipolar disorder isn't about what's in the movies or on Dr. Phil.

Thanks for the intro, Butterfly, it's good to have you.

It sounds traumatic having your colon removed, and I'm not surprised depression set in, especially in someone predisposed to it anyway. I'm sorry you've been having a rough time. This a great place to vent. We don't judge and we help where we can, give hugs when needed. You're right, bipolar doesn't look like Dr. Phil's version at all.

Has anyone else experienced weight gain?  I'm pretty sure mine is due to Seroquel but am interested in what others have found.

Just wanted to say I took 25mgs last night and slept really hard, I slept until my alarm went off (which I never do) and am exp no hangover effects as I have with everything else I have tried. I do think I will only use it as needed though, weight gain seems to be a problem for many and I obsess about my body enough as it is. But for sleep, wow, powerful stuff!

Best wishes to all of you! Its so great when you find meds that can help you, I suffered for so long in my refusal to take any.

Glad to hear it worked for you. That's how it was for me too -- a little more so. I took one accidentally once and slept for 14 hours. :-)
