I used to drink too much caffeine that you don't even want to know. I used staying up late as an excuse sometimes, but once you start having more than the recommended dose your body craves more. I officially stopped drinking caffeine last month, so far so good.
Sugar was another issue, but since I stopped drinking so much caffeine I don't eat as much sugar either. I guess sometimes when we don't have one thing we tend to substitute another.
There are people on this board that have 1 or two cups of coffee a day and it works for them. Caffeine is not a bad thing unless abused, same goes with sugar.
I've always had sleep problems before and after the caffeine issues, do now I try to relax and not think too much before sleep. That tends to keep me up for hours.

what help them soon.
Only by seeking challenges can we hope to find the best in ourselves.
